when to stop eating

I have a question for all the expert SBDieters :-)

I usually limit myself to eating between 9am and 7:30pm. Meaning at 7:30pm I do not allow myself to eat anymore for the day. Is that a good thing? My last meal ends up being dinner and nothing more. Should I always eat my night time snack? I go to bed that between 10:30 and 11:30. I have done this for quite some time I was just wondering if this is the right way to look at things?

Hi!

There are no rules on when you must eat. Eat according to your own schedule and when you are hungry. Not eating when you're hungry can be detrimental by causing your blood sugar to drop, leading to the need to eat sugary foods. The last snack of the day is there for those of us who feel the need for "dessert" or a "snack before bed". You don't have to eat it, but again, if you are hungry at that time, eat something!

I know that some like to stop eating by a certain time in the evening. If you are comfortable with that and it is something that makes you feel motivated, not deprived, do it!

I've never put a time limit on my eating. I have 3 meals, 2 snacks, and 1 desert every day. And yes - sometimes the desert is pretty late (we usually eat dinner about 7 or 7:30pm after we get home from the kids afterschool sports of activities), so desert is around 10:30pm. Personally I have just never seen any really conclusive studies that 100% support that old theory "everything you eat at night turns straight to fat". I think the reason some diets recommend not eating at night is that its a time that people are prone to making the wrong choices. You're tired, its been a long day - for some its the time they are most likely to indulge in some thing bad. I think as long as your late night snacking isn't on chocolate or chips, but something like celery or yogurt, its not going to cause a problem with weight loss.
