My journey with the SBD reminds me of THE LITTLE TRAIN THAT COULD! So far, for me, it is an uphill battle for me to lose these stubborn unwanted pounds, no matter how hard I try. I did my weekly weigh in this morning, and it did show another lost pound...so that's a total of 9 pounds since Jan. 31, 2005. It's a pound lost, and not gained instead. But I'm still hanging in there.

"I think I can..I think I can!" **puff-grunt-puff** It's a long way for me to pull this "big caboose" all the way up that hill, but I'm doing it a day at a time..with a lot of "steam" behind me. (Excuse the pun...just having some fun ;-P )

Susie - I feel just like you! I don't remember my start date, but it was late January / early February. I've lost 7.5 pounds. I lost 42.5 pounds over the previous 12 months on Atkins, but I've lost 7.5 on SBD. I was stalled for the last 6 months on Atkins, and really missing grains and fruits. So, I'd rather be losing slowly and eating a more rounded diet.

Anyway, the way I see it, I can stay on SBD, and maybe only be another 7.5 pounds down by the end of the year, or I can say forget it, and maybe be up another 20 pounds at the end of the year. I'm sticking with it! For me, I see this as a life change, not a diet, and if it takes a while, so be it. I'll get there eventually, and I'm feeling better regardless of the number on the scale. Even when I haven't lost anything for a month, I'll have people stop me at work and ask if I'm losing weight again.

You should feel great about the weight you've lost! Everybody is different, and it's just going to take some of us longer than others, but we'll get there!

Lora...

Thanks for the kind words, and you're right...it's gonna take longer for us to lose the weight, but as long as we don't give up, we will succeed. I look at what little weight I have lost, and realize that it could be 9 lbs that I gained!! Every cloud has a silver lining....I just have to look a little harder for it!

I really do like this WOE because I DO feel healthier from it, and know in my mind that I am doing what is best for my body. I have no problem at all following the SBD, eventhough I do stray a little sometimes! But I get right back on track the next day and continue with the healthy cooking and my fitness program.

I'll get to my goal eventually...it's just taking longer. I can't wait for the day someone asks me if I'm losing weight! Then I'll know it's working for me!

Thank you, too, Cathy and Maggie!

Thanks again...

Hey there Susie. I'm in the same boat too. Started Feb 7th, and have lost only 9 lbs. Had lost 12, but gained a few back, and am still battling those few, I seem to lose and gain them over and over again. I just joined a gym, and am hoping that gets things moving again.
I blame a sluggish thyroid for my slow weight loss, I am due for a blood check next month and we'll see how the numbers come back, if I need to increase my synthroid again. I also find that if I don't drink at least 72oz of water in a day, then I will gain the next day from fluid retention. My body is super sensitive to those kinds of things.
Otherwise, I feel so much better since starting SBD, and my super irregular periods now come like clockwork.
I try to look at it as a diet for health, not weightloss............most of the time that helps me to get through another day....we'll get there!!!
Best of Luck to you!

Thank you, Michele! I know we can do this, it's just gonna take us a little longer than most, but the satisfaction of knowing our efforts weren't in vain, keeps me "chugging" along. (Couldn't resist another train pun..I'm hopeless ;-P)

The best of luck to you, too, Michele!
