While I've still lost weight while cheating, I feel so guilty.
I know i'm going to cause more bad then good doing all this treat cheating.

So i'm thinking best bet would be to go back to PHASE 1 for a few days.
I snuck some of the kids macaroni tonight, and a sub sandwich the other day.... and I just need to go back to my normal routine.

HOwever, the thought of Salad and Meat etc or any of the foods i was constantly eating, Sounds so icky.
which i know is why i've cheated much more cause i know its the cheat foods that taste so yummy and fatty that care causing me to want them more then the good healthy stuff i was doing.

So basically would this be considered Cravings?
Would Phase 1 again help this??
I have no problems with fruits and starches, in losing weight, i just cant see to get out of this cheat sludge, and miss my KNOWN meals night!

What od you think?

Hi Marge,

Yes, this is definately a sign of cravings: you only want the bad stuff and no desire for the good stuff. Returning to P1 for a few days is the right thing to do.

Also, I would suggest eating some different foods and trying new recipes. Maybe boredom caused you to stray! Instead of an omelet for breakfast, try an Egg McNuthin (sunnyside up egg on a slice of canadian bacon w/some lf cheese). Flavor your yogurt differently. Try a chocolate smootie for a snack. Take a look in the recipe section and try out some new recipes.

Good luck and let us know how you're doing!

I don't have the *right* answer to give you - but honestly to me it sounds more like emotional cravings out of a lack of variety with your foods you are eating. Phase 1 won't do anything for that - except make it worse.

"HOwever, the thought of Salad and Meat etc or any of the foods i was constantly eating, Sounds so icky."

I would first try and add more variety and do a strict phase 2. I'm a big believer that variety is the best thing to keep us from straying.

I'd go through the recipe section and plan at least 4 new dinners/lunches. Then see if that helps. I find if I haven't tried any new things in a while I get in a "slump" and I am more prone tp grab a handful of the kids crackers or think about cheating. This week its happening. I planned some pretty boring/same-old, same-old meals because its a busy week - but now I am paying because its making my thoughts stray. I'm shaking it up tonight by changing my meal plan and trying something new instead, so now I am looking forward to dinner instead of feeling like "ugh, I have to eat _____ again?"

Hey Shippy --

I feel your guilt. I cheated last night and felt awful. I think i am getting bored with the foods too. (this is my second time in phase 1). I like what (i think) Cathy said about adding variety. I know that's what my problem is. I tend to gravitate towards salads, and nothing else. This is why I cheat. Some of the recipe posts here are awesome. I have tried some of the broccoli recipes, they are good.

Good luck, and don't beat yourself up over this. YOu are doing good by recognizing the problem and working to fix it.

Marge, I was looking for this from Dr. A the other day for you, and just happened to come across it today.

Maggie,
This statement "or because of associated pleasure associated from a particular food" describes me perfectly. I have just never heard it worded this way, but I eat for pure pleasure of the taste of the food. Sometimes I eat even if my stomach feels full. I just want the taste. This has always been my biggest problem. One of the biggest problems I have now is not eating bad food, it is just eating too much of what I can have. I just want the taste. I really need to work on this.

Pam, I have the exact same problem. The only way I can stop is I usually put a piece of SF gum in my mouth RIGHT after eating. I know that I'm full and I just make the agreement with myself that I'm done and it's time to find something new to focus on. I've found this trick really helpful at restraunts and stuff or if I make a big batch of something and I'm trying to put it all away. HTH, just my two cents. Allison

Thanks Allison,

I will have to try this. Sometimes I rinse with mouth wash and it helps.
