Starting Phase 2 and Scared?

Hi Everone, Well just finishing up my last day on Phase 1 and report a 3.4lb weight loss. Not much because I don't have alot to lose, but it's something. I'm scared to start phase 2. I've read all the phase 2 get started notes, and how to do it, and I'm going to be very cautious. I don't know what would be best. I'm going to do the one carb a day for awhile. So what do you think I'm best to start with Breakfast like with Cereal or what? I'm just really nervous part being is I used to only weigh myself one day a week, but since I started this I want to know the difference from day to day, is it normal to fluctuate so much? Like one day for instance I can weigh out Thursday I was 108.8, Friday 109.2, Saturday 110, Today 109.2, is this just water fluctuation? The only day I use that counts as my actually weigh in day is Tuesdays. Oh I'm so nervous about this phase 2 not even the cravings I just don't want to gain weight.
Any thoughts would be great I'm in great need of advice and support.

Thanks,
Akarott

Akarott, first off hun, STOP weighing yourself everyday! Its counterproductive. Everyone's weight flucuates daily for a variety of reasons so don't drive yourself insane as it will only prove to sabotage your efforts. Pick one day & weigh-in then.

I, too, was extremely scared to move into p2. I loved being on p1 b/c it gave me comfort. But, as I found out from experience, you really *need* to move on. I started out slowly adding in 1 grain a day. For me, I did oatmeal in the morning. The next week I added back in 1 fruit in addition to the 1 grain. So on & so forth until I was doing 2-3 grains a day & 2-3 fruits a day.

Don't forget now to bump up your milk/dairy intake as well. Aim for 3 cups dairy now in p2.

Your doing really great! Be proud of your success!

Phase 2 is great! Don't be afradi of it! In fact - I have to say that if I had SB to do over again, I wouldn't have even done phase 1. And I will NEVER go back there for any reason. Also, the ONLY times I have stalled is when I wasn't getting enough grains/fruit (I had added 2 of each per day, but never went up to 3 and stalled. ADDING that fruit and grain really kicked up my weight loss a lot)
I lost 8lbs in phase 1 - which was great...but I've lost 35lbs in phase 2! That's 81% of my total weight loss has been in phase 2. Phase 2 is where it all happens! I would chose something you are missing the most and start there. For me it was breakfast, I hated eggs - so I started with oatmeal or cereal. If its sandwhiches you miss, have a wrap on ww tortilla. If its potatoes at dinner, start with a sweet potato. Its really up to you!
Those fluctuations are normal. Especially at this point in the diet process. I've weighed every day since starting - I personally like to do this and it has helped a lot to NOT stress about those daily fluctuations because I got very used to them. I learned not to put all my emphasis on just ONE weigh in day but to look at the overall trend. But that is just me. But yes, you will fluctuate by 1-2lbs very often based on water retention, undigested food, whether or not you have had a bowel movement, etc. Sometimes I can even have a 3lb gain overnight (if I at something really salty or it TOM) that goes away the next day.

Plus, if you exercise, your body really needs those carbohydrates to maintain its stamina, and have the energy to even do the exercise.

Just rest assured that carbs are good, and necessary, and that now you're picking the best carbs for your body.

You're doign great and you're ALMOST there!

Hang in there,
