I have to pick up my son at 12 and drive an hour and 15 min. to an appt. at 1:30. Therefore, no time to stop and eat. So we are going through the drive-thru.. What are some decent choices for while driving?

Our choices are Burger King, Carl's Jr. and Taco Bell. Would a chicken sandwich be better even if I eat the bun? yes a salad would be the best choice, but it's virtually impossible to eat a salad while driving 80 mph down the freeway.

Any ideas? I'm leaning towards Burger King b/c ds loves it. Maybe a grilled chicken sandwich or something?

Hi Janice,

A grilled chicken sandwich without the bun is a good choice.

It's probably too late to help now, but next time what you might do is for you to eat a good hearty snack before you leave. Or even a full lunch. Get the kids a little something from the drive-through if you must (or make a sandwich at home and bring it in the car), and while driving eat a SBD friendly snack bar and a diet cola. Have a little bag of nuts in your purse in case of emergency. LOL.

Worst case scenario, I get a grilled chicken sandwich and eat it with one bun only (practically speaking, it's too hard to eat in the car with no bun). Those buns are pretty terrible for you, though. So watch out for cravings.

Its probably too late for this idea too - but you can always make a sandwhich wrap at home and bring it in an insulated lunch bag w/one of those reusable ice packs. My dh is in the car all day driving around for work, so this is what he does on a daily basis. I often did it too when I had to pick my dd up from preschool at 12 and then go somewhere directly after. Other good things to bring in the car in a cooler that are easy to eat while driving and require no untensils are hard boiled eggs, apples, grapes or bananas, string cheese, nuts, veggie sticks (celery, carrots, pepper strips, etc)
