Thu, 07-21-2005 - 3:50pm

I know it's late in the day, so we could probably forget the check-in today, but check-in always helps me figure out what to have for dinner, because I can see in black & white what I've eaten for the day.

B - fruit smoothie, Metamucil
S - 4 Triscuits w/lite cream cheese
S #2 (breakfast was early / lunch was late) - baby carrots w/dip
L - big salad w/lots of veggies, feta, chicken, BV
S - iced sugar free, skim vanilla latte
D - parmesan chicken, SBD friendly cole slaw, baked sweet potato
S - FF SF pudding w/FF whipped cream

Have a great rest of the day!

Kim -- what do you put in your banana "shake"? Sounds yummy, and I've been looking for a chocolate/banana "shake" concoction, so maybe I can improvise from what you make.

S - PB and Celery

L - Mediterranean Chicken Salad

S - 1/2 serving of Cantalope, string cheese

Exercise - Might skip aerobics tonight, it's been a rough 2 days...

Hi Stephanie!

I make my banana shakes with banana, milk, ice and DaVinci syrup (I usually use cookie dough or frech vanilla or white chocolate) and just blend it together in the blender. I also make a chocolate/banana one that is fantastic! It's just a banana, milk, ice and powdered SF chocolate Nesquik mix. It tastes like a REAL shake and even my 4-year-old DD who is quite the connoisseur of real milkshakes loves it.

I bet you could also use chocolate soy milk to make a chocolate/banana shake. But I really recommend the Nesquik way... it's so good! Oh, and I count it toward my 100 calorie/day sweet treats (2 TBS. of Nesquik mix is oly 40 calories so you can use a lot of mix to get a really chocolatey shake and still be within the sweet treats allowance). Let me know what you think if you try it.

Just my 2 cents - if you can't find sugar free Nesquick you can substitute unsweetened cocoa powder and splenda.

Thanks Kim! That sounds SOOOOO good! I'll have to try it this weekend.

Question though, what is DaVinci Syrup?? I see a lot of posts on here about it, and I'd like to work more shakes/smoothies into my menu. Is this a syrup you can get at the grocery store? Or more of a coffee-store syrup? Or an online thing? I'm not sure I've seen it at the store, but I also haven't looked specifically for it. Maybe you can point me in the right direction?

Thanks a million!!

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

The only place I've ever found DaVinci syrups are at T.J. Maxx and their selection is pretty limited. You can also order them online so that's what I've been doing. You won't believe the selection online (try cappucinoconnection.com or davincigourmet.com and I've heard that you can also get them on ebay, but I've never done it)! And they're great because you can do so many things with them (put them in smoothies, plain yogurt, coffee, mixed drinks, etc.) and they're sweetened with splenda so they have no calories, no fat, no anything-- so they're a "free" food for SBD. My faves are white chocolate and french vanilla, but I also love the peanut butter, cookie dough and banana ones. Yum! Let me what you think!

It really depends where you live what and where it is available. I live on the west coast and DaVinci isn't really available here, but another brand, Torani has sugar-free varieties as well. I have found them at Cost Plus, Albertson's, Ralph's and Marshall's. It's basically the same as the syrups they use at places like Starbucks to flavor coffee drinks - just in a sugar-free variety.

We have a few of the Davinci syrups available at our local Kroger, but only the large size bottle.
