Cheerios OK?

Since I've been on P2, I've been buying a separate cereal for myself because I didn't think Cheerios would be good. I just read the label and they appear to meet the guidelines with 3g fiber/oz and only 1g sugar. The ingredient list is as follows: whole grain oats, modified corn starch, corn starch, sugar, salt, calsium cabonate, oat fiber, tripotassium phosphate, wheat starch, vitamin E (mixed tocopherols) added to preserve freshness.... and a bunch of vitamins and minerals. I know it's at the low end of fiber, but since they dropped the recommended amount to 3g, it seems that Cheerios may now be an approved choice. I know there are much better choices, but are Cheerios at least more guilt-free than in the past?

Hi,

Cheerios are not the best choice.

The boys eat Cheerios, so out of curiosity I checked the fiber and it is 3g per 30g serving. For children under 4 whose serving size is 20g it is listed as 2g, so maybe that's where the nutritionist got confused?

It's 3g per oz.

BAsically, as far as cereal goes, if it tastes good, it's off limits.. Sorry.. Sorry I'm so cynical.. this is sore spot w/me...... Even the South Beach cereal isn't all that great...
