Well, bound and determined not to fall off the wagon and gain back some of the weight I'd worked SO hard to lose, I went to my conference armed with a small refrigerator I purchased at Walmart for about $50. I also took little baggies of 1/2 cup Kellogg's All-Bran with extra fiber, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, apples, cheese sticks, hummus and tabouli, and cottage cheese. I made a cup of coffee in my hotel room and had the cereal and fruit for breakfast. I totally avoided the continental breakfast which was just awful -- danish, bagels, and huge muffins. I had one meal out which I ordered carefully and ate the rest of the time out of the 'fridge.

I also worked out at the hotel gym every day. I'm proud to say, I don't think I gained any weight during my conference and came home feeling great. Thanks again, ladies for the great suggestions. They really helped! Gina

WOW Gina,

You are truly an inspiration for those who want to stay on track while away from home! I think it's hysterical (and great thinking!) that you brought your own refrigerator! LOL!

Great job!

That's wonderful! I was wondering how you did and what options you decided on. I'm glad it went so well. Thanks for updating!

I actually never would have thought of bringing a refrigerator myself! One of the ladies on the board mentioned that her sister brought a refrigerator when she traveled to store her diabetes medications. I figured if she can travel with a refrigerator, so can I! Actually, I had called the hotel about a month in advance and they told me they didn't think they would be able to provide me with a refrigerator. The bellhop that helped me carry it in said he thought it was a great idea because the continental breakfast was really awful and I most likely wouldn't want to eat anything on it. I guess the Marriott doesn't get too many people bringing their own refrigerators, but I'm glad I have it now. I am going to put it in my classroom so I can store my lunch and healthy snacks. Going back to work is going to be the next hurdle I face in my weight loss journey! Thanks to all of you for the support! Gina
