Hello all--I just found this board and I'm so thrilled! I joined the sbd website, but it's five bucks a week, and I think I've gotten all that I can out of it and the only thing I was thinking that I would miss was the messageboards, and here one is!
Anyway, I'm in my last week of Phase 1 (I extended it to 2 weeks because I still didn't feel that the carb/sugar cravings were gone) and wow, what an AWFUL day I've had, I'm quite nervous about transitioning to Phase 2. I'm home sick with a bad cold, and all that I've wanted are comfort foods that I wouldn't have to cook, plus I haven't been shopping in ages and therefore haven't much good food in the house. I had soup and biscuits, popcorn, and even some chocolate. I mean, and this is all when all of this stuff is completely illegal--what's going to happen when I'm allowed to eat the whole wheat crackers, breads, pastas, etc... I'm so scared that I won't be able to stop myself from going crazy?? How do you all control yourselves? Please help me, I was so good the first couple of weeks and lost 5 pounds, I don't want to undo all of that hard work :(

Hi Ang,
I'm really glad you found us.
Hi Ang, welcome to our board!!!
Hi Ang and welcome to the board!
I agree with Cathy. I think the reason you had a "binge" is because you extended phase 1. This causes people to feel deprived and be more likely to "go crazy" as you said. This is why so many very strict diets just don't work, you end up going in cycles of being strict, then feeling deprived, then binging.
In phase 2 when you can enjoy some things like ww bread, ww pasta, ww crackers, etc -with NO guilt, trust me - you can feel perfectly satisfied! I was a huge (refined) carb junkie....bread and pasta were THE staples in my diet. But now I am perfectly satisfied with my 3 starches a day. I have one with each meal and I feel perfectly content with that, and don't feel a need to binge. When you allow yourself healthy, reasonable amounts of things, you are less likely to get out of control.
I would move into phase 2 immediately. Phase 2 is wonderful, satisfying - nothing to be scared of! I lost 8lbs in phase 1...but I have gone on to lose 40lbs in phase 2! Phase 2 is the best part of the diet, its the "real" SB way of eating!
