I have weighed 144 pounds for what feels like forever! I've kicked up my exercise and tried cutting back on portions, cheese, and nuts, but nothing is working. Could someone check my menu? I'm going to post what I ate yesterday instead of today, because today I ate much differently than usual (still SB, but just different foods, etc) and I want you all to get an idea of what my average day looks like. Thanks in advance for any help!
B: 2 eggs, 2 slices turkey bacon
S: 1 c. nf plain yogurt with a peach
L: Ezekial pita with 1/2 a leftover grilled chicken breast, 1 tbsp light canola mayo, tomato, lettuce, and onion.
S: red pepper and celery strips (sometimes I have it with hummus, but not yesterday).
D: Flank steak, steamed cauliflower, and a big salad with lots of veggies and dressed with BV and 1 tsp. olive oil.
S: 1 c. skim milk
exercise: swam 1 mile (35 minutes), weight training for 45 min.
HELP! Thanks,
Cassie

Is it possible that you're not eating enough? It looks like you're getting a good workout in, so make sure you take care of your body by nourishing it.
Also, I'm not good with meats, but is flank steak a healthy cut? (Sorry, I have no clue.)
As long as you're getting enough to eat, I think your menu looks pretty good. Maybe someone else can give you better advice.
Take care,
A
I'm also thinking you might not be eating enough.
How long have you been in phase 2? I only see 1 grain and 1 fruit - if you are past your first week of phase 2, you should be up to 2 grain/2 fruit. I would add those in, and I would also add a third serving of diary.

It's been hard for me to add fruits and grains because of pressure from my mom. I posted about this a while ago, but to summarize... I'm 17 and obviously live at home, and my mom used to constantly tell me not to eat and would encourage me to skip meals, etc, saying things like, "you already had breakfast today, do you really need to eat lunch?". She read the South Beach book but failed to understand that 3 meals a day plus snacks are REQUIRED! I thought things were getting better with her, but the past week I had a hunch that maybe I wasn't eating enough starches or fruit, so I started adding more. Then she started telling me that I was not going to lose weight if I ate that way. Basically, she won't let me buy SBD-approved cereal or waffles at the store, so the only starch available to me is Ezekial pitas. This is definately an obstacle! Any advice? Sorry to go off on a vent!!! Thanks for your ideas,
Cassie

Hi Cassie, I agree with the advice of 2 fruit and 2 grains a day.
Cassie,
It's very possible that 1200-1300 calories isn't enough for you and that your body is in starvation mode.

I just read your post and was wondering how you where doing? Did you up your calories to 1,300? did you break out of you plateu?
I have been on the SBD for about 3 months now and have lost a total of 3lbs. I'm guessing that maybe it's because my calorie count maybe to low. I am thinking that it's fine...but I just did the body calculator and it turnes out I am overweight (surprise, surprise) I'm at 115 lbs and my healthy weight range is form 90 to 110lbs (I'm 5'0, 27 yers old and medium frame). I do between 2 to 3 hours of pilates a day but the rest of the day I'm sitting in front of a computer. They say my lowest calorie comsumption should be 1, 200 and to loose 2lbs/week I should be 1,540cal (I doubt I'm anywhere near that) I'm just afraid to eat more.....

Yes, I did add more food and it worked! I added grain and fruit and dairy, so now I make sure to have 2 grains, 2 fruits, and 2-3 dairy servings every day. At the moment, I am at 139 pounds instead of 144, so I'm definately happy about that! I think I'd be lower at the moment were it not for quite a bit of treating last week. I would definately recommend getting enough food! I don't understand all the science behind it, but I do know it worked for me. Especially with all the exercise you do, I would think that you need a good amount of calories. You could post your menu on these boards and get some feedback from the CLs. Good luck!
