I don't know how today is ever going to be salvaged.

I had to take my daughter (2.5 y.o.) to the ER last night. Or at least I felt I needed to. She had this blistering rash that was rapidly spreading. I was there from 8:30 pm till 4:30 am. Dx? bulbous impetigo OKA "scalded skin syndrome" which is name such because it looks like I poured scalding hot water on her arm.

So, needless to say, I didn't get my snack in last night. And I didn't eat breakfast. But I DID stay away from the snack machine and coke machine for a full 8 hours where it was the only option.

Then I called the pediatrician to make a follow-up appt for Friday. She decided she needed to see her in person. On my way I stopped at one pharmacy - no oral antibiotics in stock. Next pharmacy - had them but had to wait forever. Got to the dr a bit late. Left with another prescription, this one for topical antibiotic cream. Went to Sonic to get dd something to eat. Her late breakfast had consisted of goldfish crackers and later some mini cookies. Good mom, huh? Usually she eats steel cut oatmeal or a bowl of high fiber cold cereal.

Got her a meal at sonic and didn't even get myself a drink. I went to a drive through pharmacy and they said "it will be 30 minutes" so I decided to get some gas. After getting gas my car wouldn't start! It wound and wound but no starty... till finally it started. This is the third time I had experienced something similar. Weird starting and then beeping of the horn on its own. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the weird built-in security system and maybe my key is demagnatized? Or close? At any rate, I couldn't run home and get a good lunch (at 3pm) because then my car might not start and I wouldn't be able to get back to get the cream and hubby is out of town.

Knew I'd be busy with dd when we got home so decided to try and find something in the taco bell drive through. I got the chicken quesadilla. Not a great choice but I don't like to buy fast-food salads because they often give me diarhea.

So my day turns out to be something like:

B: none
L: 2 morningstar farms breakfast patties (on the run)
S: chicken quesadilla from taco bell
D: ? maybe a big salad with salmon on top, or chopped veggies with black beans and feta
S: probably yogurt

Tomorrow is a new day.

Thanks Cathy. Did they say what her rash was? My pediatrician said that here in the area this is getting a little too common. I don't think she used the word epidemic but it made me think mini-epidemic the way she was talking. Meredith is on Cleocin oral antibiotic and Mupirocin 2% antibiotic ointment. Both are three times daily. Take the gauze off and clean three times. I'm supposed to clean it with Phisoderm or Lever. Or dial. I can't imagine how much it will sting when I do that. I sprayed it with a saline owie spray tonight. But tommorow the Phisoderm is coming in.
