Awww, mywafa, its so hard when we try to eat right yet are surrounded by so many temptations. If baking cookies is too hard to handle for you, then I wouldn't bake them at all. Your dh should understand if you sit down & talk to him about how you feel. Let him know how much you struggle when he requests you bake something you have a hard time resisting. He can compromise too, you know. How about he buys some really good store bought cookies (like the kind you find in a bakery) & leaves them at work. He could munch on 1 or 2 on his way home so as to not eat them in front of you. That way, he gets his cookies & you still feel good about yourself too :)

I certainly am rooting for you! You can do this! (((HUGS))!!

Hi there,

Cookies are my "weak" food so I understand how you feel. My hubbie doesn't have a sweet tooth and I don't have any kids, so fortunately it's easier for me to resist.

Maybe you could get a pack of those Nestle pull-apart cookies where you can bake as many as you want? I think they are in the freezer/fridge section. Before SBD I use to get them and bake 3 at a time so I wouldn't eat a dozen by myself (smile).

If one of the kids is old enough, maybe you can teach them to bake the cookies and make that their job...I know kids love to bake.

Some people may even tell you to have one as a "treat" but for me, I know I couldn't stop at just one, so I'll say Be Strong. Look at some before pics or give yourself a reward for every time you resist.

Good luck

Have you tried some of the SB-friendly cookie recipes on the board? My family (kids included) all love oatmeal cookies made w/ww flour and the peanut butter cookies (they are just egg, peanutbutter and splenda) Even though my kids don't need to "diet", they don't need to load up on sugar and fat either. So if they want cookies, I make healthy ones we can all enjoy together!

If they won't go for that, you could plan a really special "treat" for yourself at the same time you make cookies. Pick your favorite SB desert, something that you don't have everyday. For me its the black bean brownies. If the kids bring home a special treat from school or someone gives them something that temps me, I make a batch of the brownies and I feel satisfied with those.

For me it was all about finding a substitute in those situations that make me feel satisfied rather than resisting temptation - I never could have done that!

Thats the way to go!!!!! See you did it. Just stay strong and you can do anything and that includes "Avoiding cookies!" YAY! Your very strong Mywafa and made the right choice by sending them to work with your hubby. Temptation is all around us and we just have to learn to make the right choices. Congrats on you 1/2 lb a week. I think thats just great! Your moving in the right direction.

In the "Recipes" folder of the board below, here is a current conversation about making cookies.
