Even though it looks like twigs, I really do like the Kashi Go Lean - I was eating it long before I ever started SBD. But, nothing says you have to eat cereal if you don't like it
Thanks....I am okay with cereals what I am saying its not my first choice.I need a alternative to eggs I will give Kashi Go Lean a try if you think its pretty good.
My favorites are the Kashi Go Lean and the Nature's Path Optimum Slim. But I don't eat them "straight" though. They are too bland for me. Here are some of the ways I eat them...
- w/vanilla flavored soy slender and cut up bananas or strawberries - w/regular non-fat milk and shot of Divinci syrup - usually vanilla, cinnamon, carmel or hazelnut (I mix the syrup into the milk first, then pour it on) - w/ milk, Splenda and cinnamon - with cut up dried fruit and splenda mixed in (apples, apricots, etc.)
What about hot cereals? I'm really into oat bran these days, but oatmeal is good as well. Plus you can flavor it all sorts of ways w/ syrups, peanut butter, cinnamon, fruit, etc.
It can't be the pre flavored oatmeal right. I am guessing that it has to be plain oatmeal? If I put fruit in my cereal that counts as my 1 fruit for the day right?
Yes - it could count as a fruit serving. Since my 3rd week of phase 2, I have aimed for having 3 servings of fruit per day. Usually I HAVE to have some in my cereal or else I will come up short, its hard to fit in 3 servings per day for me unless one is at breakfast.
But just adding some splenda and cinnamon or flavored syrups can really make them taste better!
You can also flavor the plain oatmeal the same way!
Have you tried SBD french toast? It's a phase 1 recipe that I just started making again and I really love it! I use one egg, add about a tablespoon of part skim ricotta, vanilla extract, 1 packet of splenda, and a dash each of cinnamon and nutmeg. I cook it in a small non-stick skillet with cooking spray, just like a large pancake. Then, I top it with a bit of sf maple syrup. YUM!!
Another option - have you tried the Kashi waffles? They are frozen and toast up just like an Eggo, super quick and easy! And with some Smart Balance and sf syrup they taste great!
ohhhh The french toast sounds good! I am going to have to try it! I have seen the recipe before but never tried it because I was not sure about the syrup. Can you have any sugarfree syrup? (any brand). I didn't know they had the Kashi waffles? They sound good also! I guess this means another trip to the market. *wink* *wink*
