hi
is weight watchers flake n fiber with oats cereal ok ????????????

The trouble with this cereal are the primary ingredients.  First (and most predominant) ingredient is corn, followed by rice.  This cereal is primarily a corn and rice product. Corn and rice are high-glycemic foods and are not for Phase 1 or 2 on South Beach (except for wholegrain brown rice on P2, of course).

Here are the nutritional facts and ingredients list online for this Weight Watchers Flakes n Fiber Cereal:  http://www.organicmilling.com/weight-watchers/fiber_cereal.html
INGREDIENTS: Corn Bran, Rice Flour, Soy Grits, Whole Rolled Oats, Wheat Gluten, Soy Protein Isolate, Inulin, Corn Starch, Polydextrose, Canola Oil, Salt, Caramel Color, Natural Cinnamon Flavor, Sucralose (Splenda Brand Non Nutritive Sweetener) and Vitamin E (Mixed Tocopherols) As Natural Antioxidants.

It's true there are 9 grams of fiber and 1g sugar, which would normally be good.  I'll run this by the SBD nutritionists for you, but I'm doubtful it will be approved because of the primary ingredients.  Here are past answers from the nutritionists that are similiar:

Hi, I found a cereal I love and wonder if it's OK on the diet, or at least close. Here's the information on it: Post Carb Well High Protein Cereal, cinnamon crunch flavor.  Information without milk: 110 calories, 20 from fat; total fat 2 g (1g saturated fat, 0 g trans fat); 0 mg cholesterol; 140 mg sodium; 360 mg potassium; total carbohydrate 14 g (dietary fiber 5 g, sugars 5 g, other carb 4 g); protein 11 g.  Ingredients: soy grits, rice flour, yellow corn flour, soy protein isolate, sugar, oat fiber (contains gluten), calcium carbonate, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, salt, caramel color, natural flavor, sucralose (sweetener), artificial flavor, BHT added to packaging material to preserve product freshness.

Hi,
The recommendations for cereal are 6 or more grams of fiber per serving and less than 8 grams of sugar. This cereal is a little low on the fiber
(outdated info on the fiber).   It is also made with rice flour and corn flour which may not be the best choices for the SBD. I would recommend a cereal that is not a 'high protein' cereal, and fits our guidelines instead.

Hello...
I was wondering if Kellogg's Product 19 is allowable in Phase II. Here are the ingredients:

INGREDIENTS: Milled corn, sugar, whole oat flour, wheat flour, rice, defatted wheat germ, salt, high fructose corn syrup, malt flavoring, sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid (vitamin C), alpha tocopherol acetate (vitamin E), niacinamide, zinc oxide, annatto color, reduced iron, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), riboflavin (vitamin B2), thiamin hydrochloride (vitamin B1), BHT (preservative), vitamin A palmitate, folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin D.

This is not a recommended food because it is primarily a corn product and is also very low in fiber.
