I just saw were Maggie posted about breakfast bars. I didn't know we could have those!
What are some other breakfast bars we can have. Are these south beach friendly?

Hi Jennifer,

I went through some old posts and found the following 'approved' breakfast bars:

Kashi Seven Whole Grains & Sesame Blend granola bar
South Beach Diet/Kraft cereal bars

Atkins Morning Start breakfast bar, Triple Berry flavor

Kashi Chewy Granola Bars

However, a word of caution is warranted. According to a SBD nutritionist (credit to cl-Cathy for getting this info for us!):

Bars should be used as a safety net when we are unable to make a meal or snack. Whole foods are always the best choice. The majority of your nutrient intake should not come from these type of bars. How much you use these bars is a personal decision. You'll need to decide what is best for you.

AND

Yes, you can enjoy the cereal bars. You should count these bars as one starch serving. They can be utilized as a breakfast option or a snack. We also encourage using low fat milk or yogurt, fruit or vegetable sticks with a bar to compliment the bar.
Please be aware convenience foods should be used as a safety net when you are unable to make whole foods. These should not be used as your main source of nutrients.

Hope this helps,

Hi Jennifer,

The bars we can have, as well as other yummy grain products, are listed on the Recommended Breads & Cereals list posted in the P2 folder.

I see the list fell off the radar, here's the most current version:

I think I've seen the Kashi bars at my local Kroger store. I've also seen them at Meijer and Target, and I get them in the 3-box pack at Sam's Club. I know you're in Georgia, but I don't know which of those stores, besides Kroger, are in your area.
