in a stall - what should I do?

I've been doing Phase 2 for a week now and I have maintained at 148.5. I know that the scale is probably not moving due to the "treats" over the holiday. I'm just wondering if I should stay at just 1 grain and 1 fruit serving per day until I start losing again or if I should continue adding fruit and grain back and just keep the rest of my eating in check? I also thing my AF is going to return very soon (the first one since weaning) so maybe when that's finished the scale will start moving again. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks for the imput! You guys are the best!

p.s. I'm going to need a lot of will-power tomorrow. I make lots of homemade goodies to give out for christmas presents every year (truffles, fudge, pb balls, ect.) and tomorrow I'm starting. I usually do a lot of tasting throughout the day and I'll have to restrain myself this time! I would make everything SBD friendly but it's too expensive and people don't really care anyway. I am going to make some of those Chocolate Meringue Kisses that were posted earlier for myself. ;o)

Hmm,

I can only speak for my experience, but when I started P2, I actually stalled for about 2 weeks. Didn't gain, didn't lose, nothing. But then after the 3rd week, I dropped 2.5 pounds. Maybe it's just your body adjusting to the changes?

Good luck!

I am in a stall too. It has been about 10 days and nothing has happened. I started phase 2 the week before Thanksgiving. I don't know what to do to kick start it. I have been sticking to the diet so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

I'm not sure I would call one week at the same weight a 'stall' just yet. I think you should wait at least 3 weeks at about the same weight before you would call it a stall. Just be patient as your body adjusts. Also, when you have less weight to lose it is quite often that your body gives it up in little spurts. Averaged out it is a fine rate but it is hard to see the scale not move for a week or three.

hang in there!

Hi Nili - first off congrats on your loss so far! What is happening now is VERY normal and happens to most of us. I had MANY weeks when the scale didn't move. In fact my general pattern was to lose 1-2lbs one week, then nothing the next week, then 3lbs, then nothing. It never happened at a consistent, predictable rate - no matter how perfect I was (and I was pretty darn perfect most of the time!) But the weeks that I had no loss on the scale were the weeks that I noticed the biggest difference in inches. It was like my body needed a "transition" week to catch up to the scale.
Next - yep, if AF is coming, that can make a huge difference. Some people can gain up to 5lbs in water retention because of it! I am usually up 1-2lbs at that time.
Third - when first moving into phase 2 MANY of us stall or even gain. I gained my first week in phase 2. Talk about frustrating - I almost quit. But the next week those pounds came back off and the next week I kept losing.
I believe it takes many, many weeks at the same weight to truly be considered a stall. So I wouldn't worry or change anything yet!

Thanks everybody for your help and encouragement. I guess I'm not so much worried about this "stall". I know it's pretty normal but I was just wondering if I should keep adding back good carbs or just wait until my body adjusts to the ones I have already added back? Should I add another grain or fruit today or just wait until my weight starts dropping again?

Thanks again!

Hi Nili,

The conservative approach is to add a fruit and a grain (only one each) for up to 2 weeks if the scale seems to be stuck.

Thanks, Cathy. I think I'll stay at 1 grain and 1 fruit per day for another week. Hopefully by then AF will have come (and maybe gone) and the scale will start moving again. Thanks again to everyone for all your help!

Nili,

If that scale starts moving in the right direction or if you really want to add another fruit or grain serving at any point, you should go ahead and do that.

That does help, Cathy. I guess I'll just take it one day at a time and see what happens. I'll know when I need to start adding more back. Thanks again.
