Chocolate and pancakes

I am almost done with Phase 1 (two more days). I lost aprox. 6-7 lb...

I woke up last night starving for chocolate... had a small tomato instead :(. I am glad I cleaned my house from chocolate 2 weeks ago because I am sure I would have eaten a whole one ...

Anyhow, can I have chocolate in Phase 2? Maybe dark chocolate? Also, what about pancakes? I really liked pancakes with strawberry and whip cream :(. What if I have this and then work out?

Thanks,
Dani

Regular pancakes just wont work - sorry!

What I did (and still do) is use the SB pancake recipe from the book. Then I top it with sliced strawberries and NF plain yogurt sweetend with Spenda and a litle coconut extract. It is very good.

Good luck!

Hi Lisa,

Do you have this recipe by any chance? What about chocolate? Can I have 1 piece at least?

Thanks very much!

Yes, you can have chocolate in Phase 2 - dark or semi-sweet. Until you are there, how about a sf fudgebar? Or SBD hot cocoa - warm milk, unsweetened cocoa powder and splenda. YUMMY!!

Also, SBD Mock French Toast is more like a pancake and is Phase 1-acceptable. Add a little sf maple syrup and you may be pleasantly surprised!! Here is the recipe:

French Toast SBD Style (Phase 1)

4 whole eggs + 4 egg whites
1 cup low fat or fat-free ricotta
1 T vanilla
1 T cinnamon
Dash nutmeg
4 pkt. Splenda

Beat all ingredients and pour into an 8x8 baking dish sprayed w/ Pam. Bake at 325 degrees F for 30 minutes.

Here is the Oatmeal Pancake recipe from the SBD book:

1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal

1/4 cup low-fat cottage cheese

4 egg whites

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Put it all in a blender and blend until smooth (only takes about 30 seconds)

Also - we like to do buckwheat pancakes. I use my regular pancake recipe and substitute buckwheat flour.

Here is a wonderful recipe for waffles/pancakes we have used in our home for years, even when not on a diet. It has previously been approved by this board. You start with the real whole kernal wheat and put it in a blender with milk. The only problem would be if you haven't got a source for the whole wheat kernals. If you have a grocery store that has bulk items, they should have some. But you could ask at health food stores, too. We do a lot of food storage, so we have had wheat in our basement forever, it seems.

Try this, it is great! People that don't care for whole wheat flour like this! I always get compliments on it when I make it for company. Strawberries and lite whipped topping would be great on it too.

SANDY'S BLENDER WAFFLES

Put in blender and blend on high for 3 minutes:
1 cup Whole Wheat kernals
1 cup milk
Add: 1/2 cup more milk - Blend 2 more minutes
Add: 1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
Blend and Bake. Can be used for pancakes, also.

Can you get away with less oil in the recipe? Just curious as to how it turns out. I usually only like to add 1T or so to my batters.

Thanks for the info!

I have never tried it with less oil. I think usually waffle recipes require more oil than pancake recipes, so I would think you could lessen the oil for pancakes. But I really don't know. I use Canola oil, but when on the beach I use olive oil.
