Ok so the last time I was on South Beach I went to Phase 2 very cautiously. I started with one fruit and one serving of "good carbs" as soon as I did my weight loss haulted for 7 months!!! Which is when I fell off the wagon over the holidays. I really want to move to phase 2 cause my cravings are under control, but I am scared to death the same thing is going to happen...any advice?

In addition to Maggie's questions - I was wondering, did you ever go beyond just one fruit/grain per day? Or did you stop there? I stalled when I failed to enough servings per day. When I added MORE servings I started losing again. I lost the best and most consistently when getting ALL three of my fruits and grains per day.

If it helps calm your feasr any, out of the 63lbs I lost, I lost 55 of those pounds eating a full 3 servings of both fruits and grains. And once I reached my goal and moved to phase 3 I stopped counting my servings. Some days I eat 4-5 grains - and I have STILL continued to lose 15lbs beyond my goal weight, even with EXTRA fruits/grains. So try not to look at them as the enemy - they have actually *helped* my weight loss!

I added one piece of fruit (usually an apple or strawberries) and one grain usually brown rice or ww pasta. I stayed on South Beach and faithful for the entired 7 months that I stalled. I have always worked out 6 days a week for the last two years. I never added any more fruit servings or grains because I figured if I hit a brick wall with just one of each then adding more would make me gain weight. I still havent started Phase 2. Im too scared....I know its stupid. But I am a type 2 diabetic (insulin resistant) on metformin. I was able to go off it while I was pregnant with my daughter but just 3 months ago (my daughter is 18 months) I had to go back on cause my numbers were off. Im still 15lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight. Im trying to lose more weight for my health. I dont want to stay on this stuff for ever, though it seems when I am heavier my numbers a great but when I am thinner (under my pre-preg weight) everything goes crazy again. I was brought to tears last night because it just seems like I work so much harder then all of my friends to lose weight and it just doesnt want to come off of me! The 4 lbs I lost in the first couple days are back (though some

I think you didn't add ENOUGH food in especially for exercising 6 days a week. And a size 10 is awesome! I know at 5'1" it may not seem like it. I wonder what your percent body fat and cholesterol numbers are?

I just was at the doctor. She bumped up my meds because my insulin levels still are not that great. Only time will tell but I have another appt with her in Feb. She is encouraging about me being on south beach. I keep logs of my food and exercise for her so we can monitor. Granted I am not huge. And according to my doctor she would have never guessed the weight I was (she said she would have aimed about 35lbs less) and she tries to remind me all the time that because I run races and exercise as much as I do that my weight reflects more of the muscle mass that I carry. She does agree that I could use to lose some, but she doesnt want me to stress too much about it. She knows that my type A personality makes that almost impossible. I will just be happy if I can get off of metformin!!!
