Sugar Free/Fat FreeYogurt brand?
| Tue, 01-31-2006 - 11:31pm |
Hi ya'll -- sorry for asking a question that's probably been asked a billion times before... but when I use the little board-search engine for "yogurt", I get WAAAAYY too many messages to sift through...
I can't find a sugar-free/fat-free plain yogurt ANYWHERE! I think maybe it was Cathy who once posted a little picture of the brand she buys -- and I bought "it" last week. Then when I got home I realized that I actually bought the "all natural plain" yogurt by Dannon. What a waste -- I was in such a hurry that I grabbed it because I thought I recognized the little design on the label from the picture, and didn't stop to read the nutrition info first.
Any help is appreciated!!
:-)

Exactly.
But they don't sell it here. :-)
Not sure if you are in US or overseas somewhere, but here are a few thoughts.
If you are in the US, most supermarkets carry their own brands of plain, fat-free yogurt.
The other idea is to make your own. Nilib just posted instructions for how to make homemade yogurt.
HTH,
"most supermarkets carry their own brands of plain, fat-free yogurt."
That's what I thought too but apparently low fat is more popular here. I have seen directions for making own before but dont' know if I want to deal with it, ya know? Kids may enjoy it as a little science project tho'. LOL! ;-)
do you have a health food store near you like whole foods or wild oats? They both carry different brands of nonfat plain yogurt.

If your store doesn't stock what you're looking for -- namely the Dannon, fat-free, plain yogurt -- go to the customer service desk and ask about putting in a request for that particular item. If they already carry lots of other Dannon products, adding a small quantity to their order may be possible.
Better yet, try to catch up with the manager of the dairy dept. one day, and explain your need for the fat-free plain, not just the low-fat types. Let the manager know that, for health reasons, you need to stay totally away from the added ingredients in the low-fat types. Even if you're the only custotmer buying it right now, others will likely buy it if it's available. Also, it freezes great, so you can ask for a small order, buy the entire thing yourself when it comes im, and freeze what you don't need right away.
Just some more thoughts to help you get the best type of yogurt for this woe.
I'm so relieved.
