Heartburn & cravings

I have noticed that when I eat fruit, I get heartburn shortly after. It doesn't seem to matter what time I eat it or with what foods (yogurt, cereal, etc) but apples are the worst.

Now tonight I had brown rice for the first time in almost a month and I have heartburn again plus the most awful cravings.

Has anyone ever heard of heartburn as a result of eating fruit/grains?

And how do you handle foods that give you cravings? Should I avoid brown rice indefinitely or try it at a different time of day? I'm climbing the walls waiting for this to pass!

Hi,

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well.

I typically have the fruit w/yogurt, high fiber cereal, or RF cheese... no typical GERD triggers. I can eat those foods w/o fruit w/ no difficulty.

Had brown rice w/baked salmon & steamed green beans plus some milk... which I think I drank after I finished eating & was cleaning up the kitchen (I forget which night it was that I forgot to drink it w/dinner now). I used a seasoning mix on the salmon. We eat salmon about once a week, usually w/ either green beans or broccoli and I either use the spice mix or garlic, EVOO, & lemon. Never had difficulty w/cravings from grainless version of this meal in P1. This was the first time I'd had brown rice since starting SBD. I felt like I wanted to make a batch of cookies and eat them ALL! It was *horrible*.

Should I have added some oil to the meal? I figured the fiber from the green beans would be an effective carb competitor.

My suggestion would be to skip brown rice for a while.

I've had cereal, oatmeal, WW pasta, and bread so far w/o any difficulty. Felt OK w/all but the rice.

The only GERD problems I've ever had before were while immensely pregnant! Weird.
