Hi Kerry! It's great to see you again.

The only reason to return to Phase 1 is if you are having cravings you can't control. If that's the case, 2 to 3 days of Phase 1 should do it. If your cravings are okay, there is no reason to restart phase 1 and no reason why you should gain weight while eating healthy on Phase 2. Phase 2 is the real weight loss phase. It may take longer to see results and you may hit stalls, but commiting to this WOE and eating healthy will result in weight loss.

As a teen, start phase 2 with 1 grains AND

Basically, it's a matter of watching your serving sizes and being aware of anything that causes cravings. If you stick to no more than 3 grains and 3 fruits a day, there is not much to make you gain weight. If you are eating all P2-friendly foods, then the ones you'll watch out for are beans, nuts, oils and things like peanut butter, cream cheese, mayo, etc.

Remember that a serving size of some grains is pretty darn small. Just learned yesterday, for example that a serving size of Grape Nuts is 1/4 cup. Whoa... that's tiny! LOL. Some large pieces of whole grain breads could easily count as two. A side of brown rice or sweet potatoes is 1/2 cup... or about as much as you could hold in one hand.

Watch out when you eat a new grain or fruit that you don't find yourself feeling ravenous later. Those triggers are what make us overeat on not-very-good-for-you foods, which is what sets us up for gaining weight again.

I have a chart I use sometimes to keep track of my serving sizes. I'll try to post it later for people to use.

I would be interested in seeing that chart you use if you get a chance to post it. TIA.
