lunch and snacking question

I have noticed that sometimes I get hungary right after lunch. Usually, I have a chefs salad with lunchmeat turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and ff cheese then I have a side of veggies like brussel spouts. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? What do you eat to fill you up? I tried having a salmon patty with a salad and it seemed to fill me up more, I might try that. Maybe I am just not eating enough at lunch?

Also, I have been tracking my calories and I know that we don't do that on the beach, but I was just curious. I am eating between 1700-1900. Does anyone else follow the beach and count calories? I was just wondering if this is to high? I think it might be because I eat dinner and then eat a snack usually a smoothie before bed, but I really don't think I need the extra snack, I might try cutting it out.

Any input on any this would be appreciated, Thanks

Hi Amy,

Since you are on phase 2, why not add a grain or fruit to your

Thanks Karen. I think I will try to mix it up, it could be from boredom. I also think adding a grain would be a good idea. I'll keep tweaking it.

Thanks for the ideas

That happens to me sometimes, too. It makes a big difference if I eat some LF cheese, 1/2 an avocado and/or oil on my salad, too. The fat helps stick with ya longer. Also, even having a bit of cottage cheese or like Cathy suggested, a slice of whole grain bread or a whole wheat pita. How about a toasted whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter on it? Instead of deli meat, a chicken breast or a hard boiled egg and some crumbled turkey bacon might be a good addition. Don't be shy about your quantities of protein on your salad. As long as it's lean protein, that is.

When you eat a virtually fat free meal, it often doesn't keep you satisfied for long. You might plan having two snacks between lunch and dinner on days you have a salad like that.

I have never counted calories on SBD, so I can't help ya on that. When I hit a stall, it's always because of peanut butter and cheese. LOL.

Thanks for the ideas. I think you are right about eating a virtually fat free lunch. It is not keeping me satisfied. I think I will try putting some chicken or some hard bolied eggs in it, great ideas :)!!!

Thanks again, I agree with you on the PB and cheese (i love PB so have to watch my intake of that -lol-)

You're welcome! The chicken and eggs won't add much fat, but they will add bulk, which will definitely help.

Crumbled cheese is a great addition to a salad, and it really helps it stick with you longer. I love feta or sharp cheddar on mine. I try to get low fat cheese, but sometimes I just use less of the 'real' stuff if I can't find the low fat version. We live in a small town, and don't always have the best selection at our grocery store.

I'll be interested to hear how your next couple lunches go! :)

I've found that if I add a bit of dairy to my meal (milk or yogurt) that helps me a ton.
