OK here's the deal! My friend and I are starting the diet tomorrow. We are the best of friends but the fiercest of competitors. We have offered up a $5:00 a day penalty for blowing the diet. WHAT WAS I THINKING? So I need some major accountability.
Any takers?
Donna

The best way I've found to be accountable is to journal each day. I've found it very enlightening to do that because sometimes I realize that I can't have my planned dinner because I impulsively had a sandwich for lunch, and that took up my alloted grain servings.. LOL. (I'm on P2)
I also do much, much better on the diet when I come to the board every day.
It will be fun to hear how it goes with your friend! Hope you two will be honest with each other. :) Is she doing SBD too?
Yes we're both doing SBD and we took an oath of honesty at the start of our agreement. She and I are always very honest with each other anyway but it doesn't hurt to seal the deal...lol. I used to be a CL on another board here and couldn't agree with you more about logging in. This is a great motivational tool.
Thanks so much for welcoming me. I was about to give up over here...haha
Good luck my friend,
Donna
Don't give up on us! LOL. The board can be a little slow on the weekends, but during the week you may often get a response within 5 or 10 minutes to a post... especially one asking for help.
I have a friend who is also working on improving her healthy habits and losing weight, but she is doing Weight Watchers Core. It is similar, and we can often share recipes, with minor modifications. For example, I might use low fat cheese but she would have to use fat free. She might use potatoes in soup, but I would omit them. It helps a TON to have someone to chat with about all this stuff... especially one you can be open and honest with. Although my friend and I are often TOO supportive of each other. Like, we'd say "Oh it's ok that you ate that entire chocolate cake last night. It was a hard day and you just needed some comfort food. You'll be fine." We should say, "You did what?!? What were you thinking? Go to the grocery store right now and get some appropriate snack foods!" ;-)
I used to be a CL on one of the boards, too. It was a great job and I really enjoyed it. But then I got busy with 2 kids, volunteering, and running a freelance business from my home, so I had to give up a few of my less pressing priorities. :)
Hope you stick around! Maybe invite your friend, too!
Leslie
Oh thanks Leslie, I love the support. My friend and I have also had to toughen up a bit on the accountability. For example, a couple of days ago we were chatting on the phone and I was standing with the fridge open staring at some left over pizza. I confessed that I was actually thinking about taking "just one bite" and she screamed into the phone..." STOP! BACK AWAY FROM THE FRIDGE! DON'T MAKE ME KICK SOME BOOTY". It was great. She made me reach for the string cheese instead.
I'll check in at some point each day to see how everyone's doing and to pick up a bit of encouragement myself. Thanks again for the welcome.
Donna
Hi Donna,
Welcome!
