Barilla Plus Pasta

I tried this the other night as spaghetti and it was really good. It has 10 grams of fiber and is made from wheat with lentils and chichpeas.

So I have to ask, is this as good as it seemed to me?

Also, I find this week as it's the time of the month thing. I'm really hungery, like stomach ache empty. I have been following the meals and snacks, but feel like I need to eat a couple cheese sticks instead of just one. Anyone else feel like this?

Hi Jennifer,

Boyfriend and I really love this pasta also. We also get the Hogson's Mill (sp?) type but to me it does have more of that very wheat flavor, but still good. Around my TOM I am not usually any hungrier, but I do crave chocolate- which I guess is caused by the body being low in magnesium.

Take Care, Tracy

What kinds of pastas are okay then? I am having a hard time finding whole grain items in my area. I can get the Barilla Plus and one other, but that's it. Between the two the Barilla looked like a better choice.

Barilla Plus adds fillers to bring up the fiber content.

Oh, thank God, Italian family will revolt if the little 80 year old italian can't eat pasta every once in awhile. And my toddler will eat it really well too.

I'm italian and yes I have frequent flyer miles on guilt trips.

Wow! I didn't know that Barilla Plus wasn't recommended any longer. If ground flaxseed and other ground grains are "fillers" and aren't really fiber that is news to me LOL! We buy it and feed it to the children because of its high PROTEIN content. Since we don't eat much meat in our home this is a great way for them to get some good protein. I guess it is my personal choice... but then again, *I* don't really eat it. They do. *grin*

Well I am glad to hear this update on Barilla plus. At first I did not think it was okay, then I did post and it was okay, but in my home it will still be okay. I have only bought it twice in a month and one reason was because we cannot find any other ww lasagna noodles. If even we have pasta once a week. Which is odd for us, pasta was always a staple before SBD. We do get the Hodgeson mill (sp?) also, well I have bought that twice also I think and we find it at walmart and hy-vee. But for our family also, the pasta is really for the kids more than the adults. Tracy
