Hi --
I was wondering what some of you do when going to the movies...
All the sweets and popcorn and stuff... any nifty tricks or anything u bring with you to snack on?
Any and all feedback is welcomed... lol
Also what about going out for the occasional drink?
Normally I drink Margaritas and Coors light---
I like tequila any suggestions to mix that with?

In phase 1, I always brought a little baggie with my nut allowance with me to the movies.
Hi:
I wanted to add a few of my "alchohol" choices for you. I have to attend MANY social cocktail parties as part of my job. I probably have a cocktail 2 nights a week so trying to find SB appropriate drinks was challenging at first. I like to order a Mojito (omit the simple syrup) then stir in a packet of splenda (make sure it's made with soda). I keep splenda in my purse. You can easily and discreetly stir it right in. A lot of places will make a Mojito with tequilla too. A bloody mary is another good choice. Cathy turned me on to flavored vodkas. Soda water doesn't have any sugar or carbs in it. Make sure it's soda water and NOT tonic (tonic has added sugar). So my new cocktail is flavored vodka and soda water with a twist of lemon or lime. A dirty martini works and so does a simple glass of wine. I'm not a big beer drinker....Michael Ann posted good beers to have occaisionally. Like Cathy said, Diet Soda is my trustee stand by when I can't order one of the cocktails above. Another thing to remember...if you plan on having a cocktail in the evening, reserve one of your starches as a snack. I'll eat a portion of crackers or a piece of whole grain bread just before going out. I learned the hard way that drinking on a stomach without any carbs was a bad idea. =) Good luck!
thanks again...
How long have you been on south beach?
I am kinda new to this.. i hope i get the hang of it soon
I started phase 1 on January 16th of this year. I started phase 2 on January 30th. I discovered this board half way through phase 1. It has been a life saver for sure. I'm still trying to get the hang of reading labels. I was VERY strict with myself on phase 1 so transitioning to phase 2 was scary at first. Once you get the hang of it you find that it's not that restrictive. I thought it was going to be really, really hard. It's actually not hard to stay on it....you just need to research healthier alternatives.
That's where this board comes in. All four of the CL's are AMAZING. They respond super quick and are a true wealth of knowledge. Not to mention all of the other board members. You feel like everyone is giving you a big hug in your time of need. ;)
Whenever you get a craving for something bad...do some research you'll find the alternative here on the board. If you can't find one...ask. They'll offer you good choices. Good luck!!! =)
how have u done on phase 2?
I drink Bacardi & Diet Coke usually.
I have a question about hunger from drinking. My problem is that when I drink I get REALLY hungry, and not the type of hunger that can be satisfied by a salad or other healthy foods. Also I am hungry the day after as well, my stomach feels like a bottomless pit! Does this happen to any of you? How do you deal?
This has been a huge problem for me, I do perfectly and then drinking messes up my diet and I eat all bad foods. Any advice?
Yep. This is one of the downfalls of alcohol. The obvious way to combat this is to not drink - it really could foil your dieting efforts. Another way is to stick within the 2 drink guideline and eat while you drink. Veggie slices and cheese or nuts might be a good choice for nibbling with your cocktail.
Good luck.
Yep - I have a problem with that too. Even when I limit myself to just 1 or 2 drinks, I get starving.
I don't drink "out" much, (2 kids, no babysitters) most of my alcohol consumption takes place at home - like a glass of wine with dh after the kids go to bed. So I am in a "safe" environment - if I get hungry I just go ahead and have a SB-friendly snack. I'll usually skip desert on those nights, and have a "snack" with our wine instead of a sweet treat.
