Hello! Thought I would post a little update on how I'm doing in case there's any constructive crisitism that I need! ;)
So these past 2 weeks have gone by pretty fast, and I have done pretty well. Shortly after starting Phase 1, I threw out the peanut butter because I was eating it by the spoonful. But after that, I really stuck to my guns with everything else. By about day 9 or 10, I was thinking to myself, These cravings will never go away.... but then this past weekend I was totally put to the test and I think I did well (for most of it - I'll explain :)
This weekend is my Mom's 50th birthday so I left my apartment (2 hours away) Friday afternoon to go home to stay the weekend with my parents & lil bro. Stupid me, I totally should've brought my own groceries -- they live a half hour away from the nearest city so no grocery stores around. My parents house is full of hot pockets, microwave pizzas, ice cream, chips, and other sugary snacks. They had no vegetables, whole wheat products, lf yogurt or anything other than full fat cheese. And usually going home is an excuse to let go and eat some of my fave childhood things - like the microwave pizzas and other stuff I mentioned. But I was able on Friday night to request grilled chicken and salad for dinner and then steer clear of the garlic rolls. I had virtually no cravings I was so happy! :) I was hungry later before bed so I decided since my cravings were gone I could allow myself to move on to Phase 2 and have a granny smith apple - just to make staying there a little easier since they did have some fruit I could eat. It was sorta big so I split it w/ Ma and I had some nat PB that I had brought and ate it with that. The next day we went out for Mexican for lunch. I had a salad with chicken, tomato, lettuce, beans, and cheese, it was served on a bed of fresh warm tortilla chips -- which I had 2 of -- and also did not have any of the ones in the basket that came out as an appetizer...which made me happy since bf and I usually clean house on that stuff. Dinner was steak and salad, and after dinner, Mom gave me my belated birthday present -- which included a 4 piece godiva truffle set. This is where I messed up a little and ate 3 of them -- curse you Godivas!! They're my fave, but I had a total headache after I ate them so that'll teach me. Today we went out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. We went to a steakhouse, where I ordered grilled chicken breast with a black bean sauce, and my choice of 2 sides were a side salad and cup of chili (which I barely touched since I was so stuffed) They brought my mom a mini molten chocolate cake with ice cream as a birthday dessert, I had 2 bites of that since she said she needed help eating it :)
Whew! That was long. Overall, I am just very happy with how I did at my parents house. I had those Godivas then a couple bites of molten chocolate cake. A month ago I would've binged myself silly on ice cream and ordered a big plate of nachos at the mexican place, then felt incredibly guilty about it. I was even the only one at the table at the steak house today who ordered a diet soda instead of a margarita :) Horaay for South Beach!
And I'm going to continue onto Phase 2 this week as planned, so I am super excited about that :)
Have a great week everyone!
Amy

Wow Amy, talk about meeting the challenge -- great job! Good luck staying on track and keeping those cheats to a minimum, the loss will come and those cravings will be gone for good.
Cheers,
Mags
Hi Amy,
I just read your post and wanted to let you know that considering where you were and the choices that you had in the food range... You did an awesome job. That is where you can test yourself, visiting home where there is MOM's home cooked meals. My Mom lives 17 hours away from me and I see her once a year, it is hard visiting and not eating her home cooked meals. I eat the heathly stuff and leave the stuff that is not healthy that I really love like her crispy fried chicken.MMmmmmmmm No one can cook it like her. Anyways just wanted to give you some high fives for doing such a great job. I know what you mean about Godiva chocolates, I will buy me a sugarfree bar from Godiva now and eat on it for several weeks. Just a taste of it from time to time. They are really good, although they have sugar alchols some might have a problem eating them. That is another reason I only eat a little dab of it at a time.
~Smiles~
You did great!

Hi Amy,
You really did a great job!
Congratulations on the great control and food choices you made. Yeah, I'm afraid pure sugar foods will give me a headache too, that's why I'm avoiding them.
That is wonderful that you passed your mom's 50th birthday with flying colors! Your body only has to thank you for it.
Have a great time starting Phase 2 this week! I only have 5 full days (incl. this one) and then I'm on to phase 2.
Good Luck.
