Here is the nutritionists response regarding Lean Cuisine Spa meals:
Hello! While the best choice is always whole foods, we realize that there are those occasional days when our schedules don't allow enough time to prepare a meal. These types of meals should be used as a safety net rather than the primary source of your intake.
Some frozen meals are better than others. Review the ingredient list to be sure everything is SBD friendly. I suggest adding a side dish of veggies or a salad. This will help you to meet the recommended vegetable intake.
Thanks Cathy! So would you say these meals should be eaten say, once or twice per week at lunch with a salad, or what would be the frequency, as you understand it?
I have one of those vacuum sealers and a new accessory for them is really great for making your own frozen meals for when you're in a hurry. It is a pack of these divided plates, you know with the one large area and 2 smaller areas in it. You get the plates and then it comes with the 1 gallon size bags that fit perfectly for the plates and you can make your own frozen meal with everything in its own little section and then seal it and freeze it. Plus, it is all microwave safe and you just have to snip the bag a little bit so it has an opening to vent with. Because they are vacuum sealed everything last for a super long time in the freezer, so I make one up whenever I can and just leave it in there until I need it. The bags and plates are dishwasher safe too. I tried a couple of frozen meals once several years ago and really didn't like them and never bought one again, but now I at least have a way of making my own with foods I know I love.
Soup is a great idea! Thanks for sharing! Are there any recipes that you use more than others? That would be a great lunch idea when there are no leftovers!
