Maybe I'm being too picky but I'm just so frustrated with the bread stuff. I took the list today, finally, and made notes about the breads. It seems that hardly any of them that are on this list actually meet the 3g fiber per ounce serving rule. I've often wondered why there were so many on the list and I had such a hard time finding one I deemed "acceptable" when *I* shopped. I signed up for the paid membership JUST so that I could do this list with highlights LOL! I think I'm obsessed!
Mrs. Baird's 100% Whole Wheat - 28g serving, 2g fiber, contains High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)
Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat - 28g serving, 2g fiber
Pepperidge Farm 100% Stoneground Whole Wheat - couldn't find one that said "Stoneground" but the 100% whole wheat one was 43g serving, 3g fiber
Pepperidge Farm Natural Whole Grain 9 Grain - 43g serving, 3g fiber
Pepperidge Farm Natural Whole Grain German Dark Wheat - 43g serving, 3g fiber
Pepperidge Farm Natural Whole Grain Crunchy Grains or Multi-Grain
Sara Lee Heart Healthy Plus 100% Whole Wheat with Honey - (2 slices - count as 1.5 starch servings) - 32g serving, 4g fiber, contains HFCS
I found another - Pepperidge Farm Honey Whole Wheat - 43g serving, 3g fiber
and another - Rudi's Organic 7 Grain with Flax - 40g serving, 4g fiber (www.rudisbakery.com)

Tortillas/Wraps- The only one of these at my store was the damascus bakery (I'm the one who helped add it to the list.
Many wraps are about 55-60 grams/2 oz. -this size would be counted as 2 grain servings.

One thing I can tell you is that labeling seems to vary in different parts of the country. I don't know WHY - but I have had this discussion with Cathy and a few other people in the past. Especially about the Pepperidge Farm Breads, they were highly acclaimed on this board and every one that picked up was too low in fiber and I just didn't get it. In my area the package will say 43g/3g fiber as well, and the SAME variety of bread will say seomthing like 32g or 28g and 3g on their package.
I mostly buy Oroweat Honey Fiber Whole Grain, no HFCS, 38g/4g fiber...its whole grain, but it has "added" fiber. Though the added fiber is like the 5th ingredient, so it may now be more officially acceptable. Its mainly for the kids, I rarely eat loaf/sliced bread myself - I like pitas for sandwhiches and use the Kangaroo Pita Wheat n Honey (35g/4g fiber and no HFCS) which is really cheap ($1.49 at Randall'r or HEB for 6 whole pitas or 12 servings)
So anyhow - I hear you and sympathize. I"ve learned to just use the general philosophy and then make my own decisions about specific products. There are many instances I disagree with the nutritionalist anyways...and I figure gee, there are A LOT worse things I could eat than oatmeal ground in my blender, Barilla Plus Pasta, Dannon Lite n Fit yogurt or a whole grain bread with "added" oat bran!
