Hi
I had some company visiting for about 10 days and went off-plan a lot. I didn't gain back weight thankfully and am now back on P2. I was in week 3 when my company arrived. Do I now stick with three grains and three fruits per day until I get to my ideal weight? Then I go into P3?
Also, I'm having a hard time finding a bread with a 30 gram (1 ounce) slice. Seems many are way over in grams. And is sugar-free jam an occasional treat only?
Also, some days I don't get in three grains...should I really try to?
Thanks.

Hi Dana,
It sounds like you survived a brief haitus (LOL!), so I would continue right where you left off on Phase 2. You should get 3 grains each day, but it's okay if you get 2-3 fruits daily.
It's not an exact science! I would consider a 38 gram slice of bread as one serving.
Use caution when buying breads in your health food store that don't list both the nutritional facts AND the ingredients. Nutritional labels on acceptable breads must have a minimum of 3 grams of fiber per 30 gram serving. The ingredient list must show whole grains as the first ingredient. You also want to avoid a bread that has sugar or honey listed as a main ingredient.
Bus also remember that ALL bread will have some type of sugar - its is necissary to feed the yeast and make the bread rise! So sugar and honey are okay in bread, obviously they shouldn't be ingredient #1, but there is no way they would be! It will generally be the 3rd or 4th ingredient (after the flour and water)
Just don't want you searching for a sugar-free/honey-free bread! You'd never find it!

Right, MichaelAnn. Thanks for adding clarification! :)
The problem with that (based on SB guidlines) is that just because a bread is made with all whole grains - doesn't necissarily mean it has 3g fiber per ounce! I cannot tell you how many breads I have picked up where all the ingredients are perfect, yet they only have 1-2g fiber per ounce. Especially in bakeries and delis.
Now personally - I don't think its a big deal. I honestly would prefer to have a homemade/fresh bakery made, 100% whole grain bread with no added junk and perservatives with only 2g fiber than a commercially made loaf with perservatives, fiber fillers, etc. with 3g fiber. But that is not the "official" SBD opinion!
