Difference: Phase 2 vs. Phase 3?

In the early weeks of phase 1 and phase 2, I lost 8 lbs. on the SBD. I am very close to my goal weight - within 5 lbs. However, I seem to be stalled out in terms of weight loss, for the past 3 weeks or more.

I am a little lost on the dietary differences between phase 2 and phase 3. I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong in phase 2 that has me maintaining instead of losing. Or....maybe a stall out this long is to be expected when a person is close to goal weight, I'm not sure.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

In Phase 2 we continue to lose weight at a slow and steady pace by eating foods from the Phase 1 list and adding 3 fruits and 3 grains daily. Common mistakes that hinder weight loss in Phase 2 are:

  • too much treating
  • too much cheese or too many nuts
  • not measuring fats, oils, dressings
  • not eating enough
  • little or no exercise

Here is some 'official' information about the phases thay may help:

Thank you, that is very helpful! I read a few chapters of the book again last night, but I was still a bit confused. Seeing it so shortened and clear like this is very helpful! Although I guess phase 2 and phase 3 still seem very much alike to me, except in phase 3 I can eat a potato now and again if I feel like it.

I think my problem might be a change in exercise. I hurt my foot, and I've not been doing as much cardio. Hopefully I'll be back to that soon. It's also possible I'm not eating enough. I know I'm not eating as much and as often as I was in phase 1. I am very careful about what I'm eating, but not when. Just so I maintain and do not gain my 8 pounds back, I'm not in a panic!

Thanks again - I'm going to shift my thinking and actions around again.
