Hi everyone!
I got past my little stomach bug I had early in phase 1 and have been going strong on phase 1. Today is my last day, and I'm really looking forward to starting phase 2 tomorrow!
I have only lost about 5 pounds on phase 1 but that's ok. I lost almost all of it the first 4 days and since then it's been jumping around, finally leveling out at about 5 pounds lost today. I have 9 more pounds to go till my first 10% goal, and about 50 pounds of "baby weight" total to go. I am just loving this "diet"! (just need to remember to be patient, and that it took 7 years to put on so it will take a little while to take it off!)
I've been reading all the links all over the board over that last 2 weeks and have learned so much from all of you- what great sources of inspiration!
Boy, am I glad to be done with phase 1- I can't wait to have a slice of sourdough toast tomorrow!

I also am starting Phase II tomorrow. I spent three weeks on Phase I because I went on vacation in the middle of week 2. My total so far is only about four lbs but that's better than four lbs up, which is where I would have been without SB! My situation is a bit different than yours. I have four kids, but the youngest is 10. I never lost the baby weight after the last two, and it creeps up more each year so that I am now at about 218 (or I was three weeks ago). This is the best "diet" I have ever been on so far, and I am hoping for the best!
Good luck to both of us!
Anne
Hi Carissa,
You're going to love phase 2.
I am starting Phase 2 tomorow too! I am glad to see there are a few others that are at the same point as me and that seem to have similar wieght loss goals! I also have four kids (ages 3,5,10, and 12). Up until now I have just been lurking but I would love to be diet buddies with both of you so we can all support each other!
I have a question about the sourdough bread. I was planning on getting a sourdough starter going, using whole wheat flour, so I could bake my own whole wheat sourdough bread (or at least give it a shot!). Wouldn't this make it a good choice for this diet and not just an okay one? I just love the texture and flavor of sourdough and thought if I could beef it up a bit in the whole grain department that it would be fantastic. Let me know what you think! Nikki

Hi Nikki,
Welcome to the South Beach board.
Could you post your recipe for your sourdough starter?
Carrissa, Anne and Nikki, welcome to Phase 2!
Here is the link to the site that has information on getting a sourdough starter going. It has lots of useful information.

At this site you can mail in for a sourdough starter to be mailed to you for nothing more than a SASE. It comes from an original that has been kept going since the Oregan Trail.

I had started one over the weekend about a week ago while hubby was out of town. He came home and threw it out trying to be helpful. He thought the kids had been trying to "cook" and made a mess! Needless to say I was not a happy camper when I got home from work!
Hope this is useful for you! Nikki

I am so glad to have found these message boards! I am on doctor's orders to be on SBD and just completed Phase 1 (I'm not overweight but was just diagnosed pre-diabetic). My support system is great - my husband especially. I actually made it through Phase 1 without cheating. But now I'm worried that I'll lose control moving to Phase 2. Today is my first day on Phase 2 and I don't want to screw it up - I'd like to do it right but have been really nervous about what that entails.... it's nice to see others starting Phase 2 also and some of the questions and answers are already helping me out :) I'm just wondering, looking at the sample menu in the SBD book, it shows typically one grain and two to three fruits each day. Is it okay to have two grains?
