Tomorrow I start phase II and while I'm excited about sampling fruits and ww grains again, I'm definitely apprehensive. The weight seemed to roll off for the first week-week and a half of phase I, and it's kinda come to a standstill these past few days (okay, yes I weigh myself every day but just to see what's going on. I can feel and see in my body that it's not getting smaller like it seemed to be before...it's one of those things that people might think you're nuts for noticing, but I know my body well enough to notice if I'm a little bulgier from one day to the next, you know?).

I'm going to buy high fiber cereal and ww bread and a couple fruits tomorrow and really gradually reintroduce them to my diet but I feel like if I go a week and don't see a difference, I'm going to be discouraged and fall back into some of my old ways.

Do any of you have any advice about what to expect the first couple of weeks? I'm afraid that I'll have a piece of bread and I'll end up craving more all day.

Okay, I'm done whining/fretting for now! Thanks for listening. :)

Hi Jen,

It's absolutely normal to worry about the transition into phase 2.

Jen,
I bought ww pita pockets for my 'reintorduction' to grains. I usually have to eat a late dinner on the go, so this made it portable. Plus it wasn't the focus of the meal; the bread was functional, so there was much more filler. I found when I didn't taste as much of it I didn't trigger a craving. I'm not going to buy a loaf of bread until I'm at the 3 grain/day stage.

I was really worried about fruit though. I've always been crazy about fruit. (I would have eaten an entire bag of apples in a day as a kid!) I found that I have to have it as a dessert or to finish up a meal later in the day. If I did it earlier, I'd keep thinking about what was left in the fridge. I also would buy enough for just 2 days. That way if I didn't have self control I wasn't going to completely lose control. There's something about putting your shoes on and getting in your car to drive to the store just for a piece of fruit that starts to sound a bit crazy.

Just take it easy. Don't worry too much about it. Once you plan for it and start the transition it goes quite smooth. You look forward to the grain and the fruit, but you really don't obsess over it all.

Hi Jen, I think you'll do great on Phase 2.

Thank you guys, for the advice. I have done fine so far today - I had a serving size of Fiber One (I thought it looked pretty gross but actually tasted good!) and didn't go crazy with craving more, so I was glad for that. I will probably have a serving of fruit at the end of the day, as a dessert like Kelly suggested. Thanks again!

Let me know how that goes. I'm just starting on my addition of fruits, and this seems to be working for me. I'm interested to know what works for you.

I'm a bread addict! I really thought I'd lose control when I got to start eating breads again... in fact, it was the opposite... I had a slice of bread with lunch one day and it just didn't taste as good as it did before Phase 1... I think Phase 2 is a lot easier than we all realize when we're first leaving Phase 1... I just keep my list posted on the fridge that reminds me of what I can eat (food wise) and portions (amount of protein, grain, fruit, dairy, etc) that I can see at a moment's notice until I'm really "experienced with SBD"...

Jaime, I'm hoping bread doesn't taste the same to me anymore either lol. Bought a loaf of WW today and already had my one grain, so I probably won't have it til tomorrow but I'm definitely curious to see! Thanks for the fellow bread addict advice!

I start P2 tomorrow and I am terrified about fruit. I'm glad to read someone else has fruit issues! I mean, I can eat 6 or 8 peaches without even thinking twice. In fact, that's the only thing that has been hard for me at the store --- walking past the peach display, which is the very first thing you see when you walk in, and smelling those ripe peaches! Yummmmm.

I think both ideas are GREAT: having fruit as dessert at the end of the day and just buying two at a time. I feel so much better about tomorrow now! Thanks!
