I went out tonight and in a moment of Italian food-induced weakness, I ordered the chicken parmigiana. I didn't have the bread or the side of spaghetti served with it, so hopefully I didn't foul the diet up too much.

I have to stop being such a slave to the scale. It doesn't really affect my eating, but it sure as heck plays mind games on me, ie. what did I do between now and yesterday to "gain two pounds". That kinda thing. The thing is, I don't even do it every morning. I do it every morning, afternoon, evening, right before bed - basically every time I use the bathroom. Like I said, it doesn't drive me to starve myself or overeat if I'm up or down from last time, but it doesn't do me any favors either!

I have a question about sf/ff pudding - I know that with all that milk it counts as a dairy serving - but it's snacky too, so is it also a treat? Just curious. Cause the stuff is amazing (I'm really into pistachio, but have white choc in the fridge now).

Happy July and I hope you all enjoy the holiday weekend!!

On the scale - just remember how inaccurate weighing all throughout the day is. Even if you WANTED to be a slave to the scale - that isn't the way to do it! It tells you nothing at all. To be accurate, it needs to be under the same conditions every time.

The food you eat during the day weighs something. The water you drink during the day weighs something. Bowel movements that haven't passed, they weigh something. Is any of that "fat"? No. Does the weight of your lunch sitting in your belly mean you "gained weight"? Does the 24 oz of water you drank mean you "gained weight" of course not. When you sweat a lot you will often temporarily lose a pound or two (like after a workout) Does that mean you lost "fat", unfortunately no.

The only way I weigh is first thing in the morning, after going potty, then stripping naked.

How pudding is counted has changed once or twice - but its my understanding that 1 serving counts as 1/2 a dairy and 35 calories sweet treats. At least that is what I always do, I'm sure Cathy will clarify exactly.

Jen, I did the same thing for the first week and a half! It almost became a part of my restroom routine. I actually looked for the scale when I was out at a restaurant once! I laughed it off, but I made a conscience effort to stay off the scale for 1 full day. I limit myself to once per day... well, I try. :) I have rommates, so I am not in a position to move the scale around, but maybe you could do that. Put it with the washer and dryer so you (hopefully) only think about weighing yourself when you do laundry. Either you'll find yourself going to it less, or you're going to have the cleanest laundry in the neighborhood!

Thanks for the help, ladies!

I'll definitely make more of an effort to avoid the scale more often.
