Weight Stall

Hi All,
Well, I am onto Phase 2 and so far so good! I am noticing a weight stall in that I weigh the same as I did one week ago. I've been following the program with the exception of this past sunday when I had 3 bites of real ice cream. From what I've read - I know this stalling period is common. I lost 7 lbs. on Phase 1 and look forward to continue seeing the scale go down.
Does anyone have feedback on how long they experienced a weight stall or what finally kicked new losses into gear? Thanks in advance!
Becky

I have had a couple little stalls over the past few months. I got stuck at 145 (start weight was 164.5), and was there for a couple weeks. I think I upped my exercise a little bit to get over that hump. It is normal to stall a little at the beginning of phase 2--but give it about a week, and I bet you will be back to losing again. Honestly the last time I was stuck, what helped was eating a little MORE and taking a little break from working out. We were on vacation and I couldn't follow the plan exactly or get all my usual exercise in. I was able to maintain my weight (135) while we were gone, and when we got back I got back into my routine and the weight has started to come off rather quickly. Sometimes your body needs a little break to jump-start it again.
Best of luck!

Thanks, Dana! You know - I totally agree about eating more.
Hi! As you know, weight stalls are very common and weight loss is never at a consistent rate. Just stick with it. Some things to remember are:
Here is some more information that may help!
Stalls or plateaus are not uncommon on Phase 2. The best way to break them is to change what you have been eating
I weigh myself everyday even though we're not supposed to and I keep track of it. What I've found is that over-all I average 1 pound a week, when I exercise it's 1 1/2 pounds a week. But the loss is very uneven. I can go three weeks with nothing, then have a whoosh and drop three pounds, then it goes up a pound (grrr), the drop again. I've tried to figure what I do that causes it but there is no pattern I can find. I just think that's the way weight loss goes. So I decided that whatever my lowest weight has been, that's my "true weight" and go with that. Just sticking with the plan and not letting the scale drive you crazy is what works. Since February I've lost almost 30 pounds at a very uneven rate but it's come off.

Sally,
Actually some new studies are suggesting that weighing every day is a better option for those trying to lose weight.
Hi Becky! Sounds like we started around the same time. I wrote a post last week worried about weight stall in p2 also. My weight had went up all week in W1 of P2. Not such a big deal, but it scared me a little. Anyway, last week I was super busy and did not get to work out much, then went away for the weekend and ate less than perfectly just because my choices were so limited. I didn't cheat however, just didn't get my fruit/grain in and ate corn. Stuff like that. Anyway, after returning from the weekend and getting back to the gym, and on track with food - my weight went immediately back down to where I left off on P1 and then today went down another 1.6. My point in this whole long email is that I agree with others on sometimes mixing it up helps and it's totally a cyclical thing.
Also, last year I lost a bunch of weight using the Zone diet. The only way I saw consistent weight loss week to week was by seriously cheating on the weekends. I know it sounds odd and there are plenty of people that would totally disagree, but that's how my body works. Everyone is different though. The ZOne was good, but I got SO SICK of measuring and counting everything. That's why I'm on the BEach now. Good luck!

Hi Cathy,
Good articles - thanks for sending them.
Thanks for those articles. I agree with weighing each day too, especially when trying to maintain as it keeps you honest. I know when I started thinking I could eat "normally" (lots of bad carbs)and stopped weighing was when I started gaining. Also, if you always weigh say on Mondays, how do you know if you hit a low on Sunday and the Monday weight wasn't the lowest because you ate something salty the night before? So weighing everyday catches your lowest weight of the week! LOL!
