Maggiano's Little Italy

Ok, so I have been nannying for the same family for almost 5 years. They want to take us to dinner before we move and they made reservations for this Sunday night. The little boys really wanted to go to Maggiano's and they really wanted me to go there because they thought I'd like it. They don't know that I am on South Beach (it's not something that I tell everyone). I'm not going to just get a side salad because that would be rude. I just want to order the healthiest thing possible, even though it won't be 100% SBD friendly. I just plan on eating half of it and taking the rest home for Pete. So I wanted your opinions on what you think I should get. I won't get an appetizer, I just need to figure out a main dish.

I also plan on keeping my eating pretty light that day and having a good workout before we go. This will be my first real cheat since I've started SB, so I wouldn't be as worried if it weren't for my sister's wedding, which is less than a week later. I don't want to be all bloated or anything.

Thanks for all of your help!  :)

Unless they order family style there is no reason your meal can't be 100% or almost 100% SBD friendly.

Hi Katy,

I agree with Kim in that there is no reason why you can't enjoy a dinner that is 100% SB friendly.

I looked at the menu and here are a couple of ideas:

Appetizers:
Tuscan Style Mussels - ask them to omit the crostini
Fresh tomato and mozzarella
Mussels Diavolo style
Any of the salads would make a great appetizer - omit the croutons

Chicken, Steaks, Veal, Chops Entrees:
Chicken Scaloppine
Whole roast chicken
Beef medallions - omit the potatoes
Veal chop
Veal Picatta
note: there may be some cream or butter in these sauces so you can either ask them to hold off or consider it a night out where you ordered 'well' for the most part!

Seafood Entrees:
Mussels Tuscan Style
Salmon, Lemon and herbs (this would be my choice)
Mussels Diavolo style

Enjoy and let us know how it turns out!

No need to omit the prosciutto.

Thanks ladies! I think I will get the salmon. I don't know what I was thinking. I just thought there wouldn't be anything to order at an italian restaurant.

Thanks again!

So dinner was great, except we ordered family style. I had caesar salad, a few stuffed mushrooms, chicken stuffed with fontina cheese, a piece of veal with mushrooms, 3 bites of pasta, and a few bites a each dessert. Overall, I didn't eat that much food, but boy was I sick! My stomach hurt for two days! I was so nauseated that night, I thought for sure I was going to throw up. But I now know that I cannot treat myself even if I want to because my body cannot handle it.

Luckily, my weight hasn't gone up and I'm down to 196.8!!! But I just wanted to thank all of you for your help. You guys are great!
