protein bars / snack bars

I'd like to have some good, SBD-legal snacks to stash in my desk, to keep me from eating from the vending machines when things get crazy here in a few weeks. I can keep some nuts here, but nuts are one of the things I have to be careful about because I love them WAY too much.

I keep picking up the SBD snack and protein bars in the store, and putting them right back because of the sugar in the ingredient lists. What gives? Does anyone have suggestions (or, even better, recipes) for snack bars?

Thanks!

Deb

I buy the SBD bars mostly for DH, though I occassionally (in a pinch) will have one. I also buy the Kashi bars. I am surprised by the somewhat high sugar content in the SBD bars as well--I thought that was rather strange!

Hello:

I get the munchies at work frequently and I always pack a little "treat/snack" bag for myself the night before work. I just grab it from the refrigerator and go. I keep: carrots, sugar snap peas and celery, packets of prunes, 7 almonds or 15 pistachios, 7 triscuits, a hard boiled egg, small can of V8 and laughing cow lite. All of those items will not perish on your desk throughout the day. I don't necessarily eat all of these things EVERY day but having them there helps with the mental cravings when walking past the vending machine or the kitchen stocked with treats. I also keep those single serve packets of Crystal Lite in my drawer too. Hope this helps and good luck.

PS: The TLC Kashi Bars have saved me more than once!!! They are a great pre-gym snack and a good item to stash in your car in case of an emergency. =)

Now I am a little confused. Is the SBD Meal Replacement Bars - Chocolate Crisp and Cinamon Bars ok for phase 2. Also the EAS Advant Edge Carb Control Nutrition Bar ok. (Serving size 60g, 220 Cal (fat 60) Carbs 22g of which only 2g are impact carbs. If these are not ok, then what is your suggestion? I am a pilot and I need to have a snack bar or meal replacement bar on some of our longer flights.

Thanks.

Yes, you may have the South Beach meal replacement bars starting in phase 2.
