Nursing mom's 1st day on SBD
| Mon, 07-24-2006 - 8:24pm |
Here is my 1st day's accomplishment. Please feel free to let me know if there's smth I should reconsider in my diet:
BF: old-fashioned oatmeal (3 T uncooked) w 1T sunflower seeds and 1 T raisins. Coffee.
I know raisins are on the "avoid" list, but couldn't think of anything instead.
Snack: Hard-boiled egg
Lunch: Tomato and Cucumber salad w Olive oil. 1 slice wwheat bread w 2 slices of Harvati cheese. 1 cup milk, regular. 1 apple.
Snack: 1 peach
Dinner: Eggplant Moussaka w Green salad.
1 cup 1% buttermilk
Plenty of water throughout the day.

Check out this thread filled with oatmeal ideas:

I think a serving of oatmeal is 1/2 cup uncooked.
Cathy, thanks for the oatmeal link. I'm sure I'll find smth to substitute for raisins. And to answer your questions:
> I think a serving of oatmeal is 1/2 cup uncooked. 3 Tablespoons doesn't seem like much oatmeal.
=1/2 cup is waaaaaaaaay to much oatmeal for me. I can't get it in!
> Was the havarti low-fat? Cheese should have no more than 6 grams of fat per 1 ounce serving. Milk should be 1% or skim.
=Both were regular - cheese and milk. I'll get low-fat today.
How are you feeling? Milk supply seem fine?
=So far feel great. No cravings!!!!!!!! I'm really amazed that I handled the 1st day so well, without being hungry or wanting more to eat. Yeap, milk supply is as good as ever.
Thanks so much for the comments. I knew I'd get some things wrong, but it's a learning process, I'm sure I'll get better with every day! Thanks again!
Hi,
You're doing great.
Good job! I would probably add in some more milk or some yogurt. I try to get 3-4 servings of dairy in a day as a nursing mom. :o)
Also, as you feel more comfortable you should work towards 3 grain servings and 3 fruit servings a day. I started off kind of slow too because I was afraid of cravings having not gone through Phase 1 but I soon forged ahead.
Keep us updated on your progress!
