I recently purchased some apple chips and would like to know if they are SBD friendly and if so in what amounts. The label on the can states thr following:
Serving Size: 1oz.(28g)
Servings per Container Approx. 2
Fuji Apple Chips
100% Natural
Baked Not Fried
Almost 2 Pounds Of Fresh Fuji Apples In Every Can
Fat Free
Trans Fat Free
Saturated Fat Free
Dietary Fiber 3g
Sugars 21g
Ingredients:
100% Fuji Apples, Cinnamon
Website Address: info@fujiapplechips.com

I also have plain and carmel flavors. Ordered them from QVC!

Dried fruits are allowed as long as they don't contain added sugars. If the only ingredients here are apples and cinnamon, they are fine. I couldn't get to their website, but I suspect that the caramel chips will have added sugars and would not be acceptable.

Thank you for the quick response. The carmel apple ingredients are: 100% Fuji apples, vanilla,(don't know if it is sugar free or not), natural caramel color and flavor.
The P2list of fruits lists :Apples- 1 small or 5 dried rings. What would you suggest a proper serving size to be since the apples are not "rings" but "chips" broken pieces?.Thakn you for your advise.

You'd have to 'eyeball it' on the quantity. Again, make sure there is no sugar listed on the caramel ones.

I would approach this logically. If "amost 2 pounds of apples go into a can" then determine how much a single apple weighs to determine how many apples are in a can and then portion out a single apples worth.

What do you think?

The online nutritionist says to count 5 whole apple chips as a fruit serving.

Hi Cathy,
Thanks for the information. I will do my best to try and find 5 whole pieces . It will be like trying to put together a puzzle! It's not all for nothing, my family will eat them as a healthy snack.
