Starting phase 2
| Sun, 09-03-2006 - 12:10pm |
My husband and I are starting phase 2 tomorrow. We are both happy with our weight loss so far 14 pounds for him and 10 pounds for me. We have been very faithful with the exception of a couple of weak moments. I can't tell you how tired of eggs and lunch meat we both are. We would like a good soup recipe. NOT chili as I have made it too much lately because it is allowed. I want to continue but I am so tired of what we have been eating. I hope the phase 2 foods will help. Another question, I have been looking at labels for added sugar. If something has say 2 grams of sugar but it is not listed as an added ingredient does that mean it is natural and is that o.k.? Thanks for any suggestions. This is a great support to read when you are feeling like it is not worth it!!

Hi,
Congratulations on your great success in phase 1.
I personally would not use it. It has both sugar and high fructose corn syrup in it.
I will let the CL's give their personal yes or no stamp.
Good job with the weight loss!!
Lisa.
Miracle Whip is a cooked salad dressing that contains 50% soybean oil, while mayonnaise is an uncooked salad dressing that contains 80% soybean oil. Since Miracle Whip contains less soybean oil, it would contribute less of the nutrients compared to mayonnaise. This would make mayonnaise a better choice compared to Miracle Whip. Either product should contain no more than 3 grams of sugar per serving.
Here are the guidelines for salad dressings and mayonnaise type products:
Mayonnaise - Regular - 1 TBS
Mayonnaise - Low Fat - 2 TBS (avoid varieties made with high fructose corn syrup)
Salad Dressing - 2 TBS. Use those that contain 3 grams of sugar or less per 2 TBS. Best choices contain canola or olive oil. Low carb salad dressings may also be used if they meet these guidelines.
These foods are counted as fats on the SBD. Miracle Whip also has high fructose corn syrup so it would not be the best choice.
