Sweet treats, snacking and salt....

Hi-

I have been on the SBD for three months now, and I have not strayed once. I love this way of eating and love the energy that I have, but am a little dissapointed with my weight loss (or lack thereof) and thought maybe I was doing something wrong.

In Phase one, you are advised to eat slowly, but if you are hungry, you can go back for more. Is this advised for phase 2 as well? When I snack, it is on veggies or lean protien, but my weight loss has plateaued, and I have actually gained 2 pounds back.

Also, I have been eating 2 of the SBD cookies almost daily for about a week, and I was wondering if that might be harming my diet?

Is salt frowned upon? I could not find anything on it in the book.

And finally, what about the SBD pizzas? Should those be used only occasionaly? I have been eating about 2 of them a week, and even though I know they are SB friendly, it seems like maybe they are not the best thing to be eating.

Thanks so much!

Hi Michelle,

In Phase one, you are advised to eat slowly, but if you are hungry, you can go back for more. Is this advised for phase 2 as well? I think it's always advisable to eat slowly - I remember hearing that your stomach takes longer than your brain to realize it's full. Yes, you can always go back for more food if you are still hungry. We are to eat until satisfied, but not full.

When I snack, it is on veggies or lean protien, but my weight loss has plateaued, and I have actually gained 2 pounds back. Your snacks are right on. Plateaus are usually due to too many calorie dense foods. Watch your intake of nuts, cheese, cooking oil and salad dressings.

Also, I have been eating 2 of the SBD cookies almost daily for about a week, and I was wondering if that might be harming my diet? Well, you would hope that 2 cookies wouldn't hurt, but they are more calorie dense snacks than veggies and proteins. I suggest you cut back on them for a few days and see what happens.

Is salt frowned upon? I could not find anything on it in the book. Salt is permitted unless you are restricted by your own doctor.

And finally, what about the SBD pizzas? Should those be used only occasionaly? I have been eating about 2 of them a week, and even though I know they are SB friendly, it seems like maybe they are not the best thing to be eating. They are for occasional use and should be eaten with a salad or other veggies.

Hope this helps and let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi,

Just wanted to add that "occasional use" means not more than once per week.

Hang in there.
