I bought some really yummy looking organic sphegetti sauce and in the list of ingredients about 4-5 down it says organic sugar. Ive never heard of it and is it safe?

I kind of figured it was to good to be true. It just looked really good, and I wasnt sure about the sugar part. Good thing I asked first. LOL.

Any suggestions? What would you use on whole wheat pasta?

They make "no sugar added" spaghetti sauces. Just look for one with that on the label! GL!

LOTS of pasta sauce has no added sugar, even if it doesn't specifically advertise that by saying "no sugar added" on the label. Check the ingredients, I have never had trouble finding lots of choices. If you like Classico pasta sauces, here is a list of their varieties that don't have added sugar:

Tomato Basil
Fire Roasted Tomato and Garlic
Spicy Red Pepper
Roasted Garlic
Sundried Tomato
Florentine Spinch

I've also found that most store brands have lots of varieties without sugar.

But being Italian, I prefer to make my own most of the time and freeze it. Its SUPER easy...

I start with a couple tablespoons olive oil, a few cloves garlic and an onion. Saute until its translucent. Add a cup of red wine and boil it to reduce by at least 1/3 (til its get thicker and kind of syrupy) Add a can of crushed tomatoes, a can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato paste and 1 T italian seasoning (better yet, fresh basil, oregano and thyme, but I usually just used dried) Simmer for an hour, covered. That's it!

OMG! That sounds soooo good! Looks like tonights dinner is cancelled for some ww pasta and your homemade sauce! Even though Ive done this way of eating off and on, I still get confused about what to look for in the ingredients so I tend to not vary much and stick to the things that I know for sure are SBD friendly. kwim? but Im getting bored of those things and want to venture out more. Ive got the SBD book and another sbd cook book, but most of those things in my second book are to fancy for us. Last night I made the turkey chili only our store didnt have the turkey so I used extra lean instead. It was fantastic until out of habit I ate a few saltine crackers before I could catch myself! 98% of the time I do great! Today is a weight check at my Dr's for an apt and Im afraid I have gained and not lost. Ive been stalled at 128 for over at least 6 months if not longer. :(

Nope! That's definitely not safe. That sounds like 99% of everything on the shelves here in the UK. Organic is mistaken for healthy. If the potatoe chips are organic, then it's a free for all. You can barely get non-organic eggs here. That word is very deceptive!
