New w/ questions about bread and milk

Hello from a new comer! Keep up the good work everyone. You can do it.

I'm sure this is not the first question on here regarding bread or milk. I just want to make sure that the bread I have chosen will work. First of all, what an ordeal I must say, in finding an appropriate bread..lol I ended up chosing a 100% whole grain bread that has 42g per slice with 3g of fiber. Will this work or is it not enough fiber? I read something about 1oz = 30g and that is a daily serving. How does all that work? Do you have any suggestions about some brands of bread that do work? Or is the one I chose fine.

Also, regarding soy milk.. I first bought some plain Silk Soy Milk but then noticed that it has evaporated cane juice in it. Does this make that choice of soy milk inappropriate? I recently purchased another brand without the evaporated cane juice, but it has brown rice sweetener.. what is that and is it ok to drink.

Thank you so much in advance to anyone who can help clear this up :)

Hi Carla,

I understand how frustrating it can be to stand in the bread aisle reading all the labels.

Thanks for the info. So then it is ok for the soy milk to have this so called " brown rice sweetener" or "evaporated cane juice" in it? Also, will a bread with 42g per slice with 3g of fiber be close enough? Sorry if I'm seemingly asking the same question.

I will check out the frozen food section for the breads as well . Thanks for the advice

Hi Carla,

The best choice for soy milk would be "Unsweetened".

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I didn't think they would be. Glad that I double checked. I went to the store today and purchased the Soy Slender in vanilla. It's really yummy and totally legal. Thanks for your help

Thank you so much Cathy. I did go to the store today to look for a different "legal" soy milk. I found the Soy Slender in vanilla, and it's so yummy. Good recommendation. Again thanks for all your help

My question is similar.... since starting phase 2 bread has me confused so have not had any at all until today... bought the whole wheat pita pockets and put turkey and lettuce in it for lunch. 70 calories each..... any idea if this ok or not? I was still hungry after and then just had more turkey and lettuce alone
Thanks

When I went into Phase 2 I stuck with Pitas since they were easy to find and the serving was straight forward. I think it is a good choice.

Enjoy!

Thanks... and you are right... easy to figure out... 1 small pita for a serving. I would really like a nice bagel sandwich but i think that might be pushing it a bit
