Recipe question.. Is this ok for Phase 2
| Sat, 02-03-2007 - 1:45pm |
I was watching the Food Network and there was this really great recipe. It has roasted vegetables, feta cheese, whole canned tomatoes, etc.... Anyways, my question is that it calls for a crust that has :
2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
1/3 cup whole-grain pastry flour
Is this ok to have for phase 2?

Thank you for answering so quickly... Yeah, I wasn't sure and was going to do some food shopping today. Thanks again
Carla :)
Is it something that you can make "crustless"?
We have lots of quiche and pie recipes where the crusts are omitted or crushed nuts are used. Maybe something like that will work for this recipe.
Sorry Karen it took so long to respond..... Um, I'm not sure if one of those crustless thigs would work. In the end the finished product looks like pizza, but a healthier version.
Do you have any suggestions for a mock pizza crust maybe?
TIA, Carla :)
There are some ladies here who make their own ww pizza crust. You could also make pizzas on whole wheat bagels, english muffins, pita, and flatbreads. My favorite, though, is a portobello pizza.
HTH,
Great, thanks. So a WW pizza crust is ok for Phase 2? I'll post something and see what feedback I get for crusts. Thanks so much Karen.
Happy day, Carla :)
Hey Carla,
You're welcome. I see you got your pizza dough recipe in the other post. I also wanted to let you know that Boboli 100% Whole Wheat Pizza Crust is acceptable. I've used it once and it's very good (and easy)!
I've also used this before & thought it was great! There is some controversy though as to it being 100% sbd friendly. I classify this one as *my personal choice* food item to have. To me, it beats having the enriched processed white flour kind.
SBD for me means making better food choices, and sure, there could always be a "better" choice, even with an already healthy choice, but that better choice is no good if I won't eat it anyways. So, we all have to find an alternate to what we will (and won't) eat in terms of healthy foods. Does that sound confusing?
Enjoy!

Karen... thanks so much for your help. Yeah, I got great response for the "pizza posting." Not only did I get the whole wheat pizza dough recipe, I also got a couple of yummy recipes. Can't wait to try them.
Thanks again for your help,
Carla :)
You're welcome - glad it helped!
