I finally found Steel Cut Oats and I don't know what to do with it. I never had it before but I heard everyone mention how filling and good it is - so here goes. The brand is Arrowhead Mills and the info is:

Serving Size 1/4 cup (41g)
Calories 160
Fat 3g
Carbs 27g
Fiber 8g
Sugars 0g
Ingredients Organic steel cut oats

Are these OK? If so, is 1/4 cup 1 serving?

Thanks

Carla, I'll jump in with an answer. I just cook regular oatmeal in the microwave using the package directions. It only takes about 5 minutes that way. You can sub milk for part of the water if you want. Be sure to use a big bowl or you'll have a mess!

Steel-cut use a different amount of water, I think, because they are much thicker and less processed than rolled oats.

It's 10 degrees outside with maybe a big snowstorm coming tomorrow (well, big for southern OH, not for upstate NY!), so oatmeal sounds really good! I may make some myself.

Enjoy!

You can still add a protein serving if you like.

Hey Deb... thank you so much for the response. You answered my question perfectly. I've never been in 10 degree weather, living in California... lol. Yup, you definitely deserve some warm oatmeal there! I'll be thinking of you as I venture off to make mine.

Stay warm and cozy,
Happy Day, Carla :)

Cathy, I was wondering if making directions for one serving is considered my 1 grain for the day? I guess I'm getting confused because I think that your suppose to have 1/4 cup of oatmeal.. or something like that.

TIA, Carla :)
