Homemade whole wheat flour tortillas...

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well. I have a question.. again (lol) Before I started the SBD, I used to make tortillas from scratch. My question is that now that I'm in the 3rd week of Phase 2, would these be ok? I really want to try this. Instead of using the regular white flour, I would use the 100% whole wheat flour.

The only other ingredients besides the WW flour are canola oil, baking soda, pinch of salt, and warm water.

Would this be "legal" to try?

Awaiting anxiously, Carla :)

I have no concept of the science behind baking bread. So, assuming that you know and that you are only asking if the ingredients are allowed - YES, the ingredients you listed are legal!

Please let us know how they turn out and post the recipe for the bakers among us!!

Thanks Karen. Actually, I meant to put baking powder, not soda... But, I don't think that makes a different either. And yes, those are all the ingredients that are needed for making homemade tortillas.

My mom, who passed away in 2000, used to always make these as I was growing up. I carried on the tradition by making them. I'm happy to hear this is still possible... just a healthier version.:)

I will definitely try doing it with the WW flour. I'll let you know how they turn out and will post the recipe.

Thanks again, Carla :)

Carla - be sure to try it with WW pastry flour. I think you'll have your best luck with that.

Um.. funny question... But, is pastry flour and baking flour the same thing? lol. sounds silly. I ask because today I bought a 100% WW baking flour. I'm going to try that. I think it's the same thing.

Thanks Kim,

Carla :)
