Starving in Phase 2!

Well yesterday was D1 of P2. I was starving all day.

Instead of eggs in the morning, I had fibre1 cereal and added almonds. Obviously this wasn't enough.

Even with snacks, lunch, supper, snacks...I went to bed hungry and craving things like chips and or popcorn! I didn't give in, but then woke up today, so very hungry. I cooked eggs today and skipped the carb for now and will have them later in the day. I also think having an orange yesterday as my fruit made me more hungry too, somehow. Does that make sense?

Thoughts, ideas, help? : )

I like the idea of having a fibre cereal in the morning as I cannot take the metamucil and ...well...I'm sure you understand! ...but ...I cannot eat eggs AND cereal etc without exploding from being too full....but...the cereal doesn't keep me full at all...

ARe there any great snacking ideas for things that resemble chips? LOL ..and would I get enough of them to satisfy that need? For example, 3 crackers will be crunchy, but will just make me want more of them!

thanks again...looking forward to all of your great answers!

Will go and drink more water now and hope the hunger leaves soon

ps: I had no cravings on P1 at all!

You really need to be careful adding in the carbs to be looking for those cravings.

I'm definately a newbie, so I'm learning with you. I think I've read that making sure you eat a carb WITH a protien will help keep cravings at bay. Even if you only eat half of your cereal and half an egg, at least it would help prevent cravings.

I noticed yesterday I seemed more hungry than usual too. I think part of it was just in my head, as in, OMG I'm eating carbs again and now I'm going to starve all day :) But, the other part was actual hunger.

Have you tried oatmeal? This morning I had oatmeal with peanut butter. It was SO filling. I ate that at 6am, and am still very satisfied now (it's 9:20 am here). Try eating your fruit with a cheese stick? Just tossing out ideas.

I look forward to hear what some others have to say b/c I have some of the same concerns.

I have always ate a lot for breakfast. Omelets really fill me up, and so does baked oatmeal. If you want protein and carbs, maybe a whole wheat egg burrito or eggs on a piece of whole wheat toast. I rarely eat cereal because it never fills me up, and the milk seems to upset my tummy in the morning. You could also try peanut butter toast.

Of course, I am hungry a lot too, especially on the days I work out.

Hi!

One of the common mistakes in phase 2 is to start cutting back on food. Just like in phase 1 you should NEVER go hungry. If you are hungry....EAT!!

Also, with the added fiber be sure to get plenty of water.

The most important thing that may help you is to add a carb competitor with your grain. If you like to have a grain for breakfast, have a piece of canadian bacon, turkey bacon or a slice of cheese.

Here's some information for you:

When re-introducing carbs, you'll want to add a "Carb Competitor" with it.

Great 'triscuit' idea! I must buy some of those!

yes, I had string cheese with my orange, but it wasn't enough....It was after my workout though, so I think I need more food at that time...

thanks for the ideas! : )

Thank you! Yes you are right...I didn't get a protein with my cereal and that really messed things up....

I don't think I can eat bacon and cereal together, although stranger things have happened. Think I need to re-think breakfast!

I do like oatmeal, but ate it for a couple of years straight when I was really into bodybuilding and I'm a little oatmealled-out (that's not a word, but ..!).

I hope to get my food on phase 2 sorted out shortly!

thanks for stopping in to help!

Thanks, Audrey. Yes, I am extra hungry when I workout and that is Monday - Friday, so I'm hungry a lot...LOL

I think I may stick with eggs a lot more event though I want that fibre cereal (!) because I had eggs today and wasn't hungry at all...

something to sort out, I guess!

thanks for your input! : )

Hi Karen!

Thank you!

I thought adding almonds to my cereal would be the fat and fibre thing...but it wasn't enough, apparently! : )

Yes, I think I did cut back on food, as the cereal replaced the egg, not added to it.

I think I did better today!

I will read more about phase 2 and sort it all out!

thanks for the help and the resources!
