anyone for mini-goals?

Help, please!

I need to lay out some goals, dates, rewards, where I think I can be when, etc. I need some mini goals here!

How do y'all go about this? I rewarded my phase one success with a new over the shoulder tote for card-making supplies. DH rewarded himself by going to Dairy Queen. Let's all shake our heads and wag our fingers at him!!! Tsk. Tsk.

How do you all (again with the you all) break down your big job into little attainable chunks?

Thanks!
Teresa

Mags, you're too funny. You nearly made spicy stir fry come out my nose. THAT would have been ugly.

I try to set mini-goals every few weeks, because "30 pounds in 6 months" is way too far off and unattainable sounding for it to do me much good. I like having it there as a reminder, but thinking of some occasion and goal for every month has been a good motivator for me.

I'm glad you asked this, Teresa. I'm about 23 down, 37 to go, so I've been wondering how to reward myself when I hit the halfway mark in another couple of months. I don't want clothes, because they won't fit long. I'm thinking of either (depending on the budget) a weekend away with dh or some new shoes. Any other good ideas??

My mini-goals were always fitting into a specific former favorite outfit by a certain event. My first goal was to fit into my previous favorite size 12 capri's and a favorite purple top by my birthday day in April (started in Jan '05 at a size 18). I accomplished that goal and the pic is in my photo album below. Then my second mini-goal was to fit back into my wedding dress by my anniversary (in July '05) I WAY surpassed that goal and fit into it by the end of May and by July it was so big on me I could grab handfuls of fabric in the back. My final goal was to reach my goal weight/size by the end of August '05 so I could wear the dress I wore on my first date with my dh when we went away for our first weekend EVER alone since we had kids. Again, I surpassed that goal though and by the trip the dress looked like a tent on me and I had to buy a new one for the trip!

Just checking to see how your mini goals are going with working out and eating on track.

Erin,
Thank you for checking on me! I am excited about the trip this weekend. I did not meet my exercise goal, but I've done more than I would have without a goal in mind, I think. Eleven workouts. So, nine short. I can get two more in -- no three! before the trip.

Eating wise -- yikes! Doing well enough that I don't gain, cheating enough that I don't lose!!

The wheat sensitivity really threw me for a loop. My DH performed sort of an intervention on me this weekend. He said, come on, just do the basics. Do the basics for health.

He was so sincere, it was a very loving gesture.

Great news on your continued losses!! Thanks again for the thoughts my way!

Teresa,

It's good to "hear" from you! I've been wondering how you are. Sounds like you're still having kind of a tough time with the wheat issue --- remember we're all rooting for you!

I need to get better at this as well. I've got a couple of big events coming up so my goals are:

To reach 143 by the end of April. This will hopefully help me stick to this WOE while traveling. I have about 3 trips between now and then.

To tone up a lot more by end of May so that I can wear by bikini in Croatia.

To fit into my favorite jeans again and be even more toned for my pictures in June. I'm hoping to be at my goal weight by then.

I don't really have any rewards planned out for myself. I will have to think of something!

I agree with your goal of fitting into your favorite jeans! Mine was to fit in my favorite pair of size 12 pants (for work) and I did it yesterday (although, darn it, the waist band is still snug, but still they fit.)

My next mini goal is to lose 2 more pounds and I'll be half way to my goal (150).

The next goal is to get to 160 by 4/26 when I'm going away for a long weekend.

Final goal by July 4th week when the family has our annual summer vacation.

I really hadn't thought of any "rewards" but I really like the idea of new curtains that someone suggested!
