Should I move on to 2 starches?

Well, like many I've seen who start P2, I gained 2 pounds during my first week of P2.  I cheated very badly on Saturday, so I'm sure that contributed to it.  Otherwise, I have been a SB saint.  I immediately got back on track, and am committed to moving forward.

But, since I gained during week one of P2, do I still add that second grain and fruit, or do I wait until my body starts loosing with just 1 grain and 1 fruit?

Hi Kristi,

Most likely what you saw on the scale when you weighed yourself was the 'weight' of fluid being replaced in your body. Remember that the scale doesn't just reflect changes in fat mass, but all components of the body. This includes bone mass, muscle mass and fluid, in addition to fat mass. The first 10 days or so of a weight loss food plan results in some loss of fat mass, but also excretion of some water in the body. Of course water has weight; in fact, a quart of water weighs about 2 pounds. So when that water is replaced you will see that water weight show up on the scale. It is really changes in weight over the course of months, not days or weeks that will give a truer idea of loss of fat mass.

I suggest you keep moving forward.
