Having trouble with grains...

Hi, all --
Posted this about an hour ago -- it hasn't shown up on the board yet, so if it ends up showing up twice, I beg your pardon!
I was just saying that this is my second week of phase 2, my weight is holding, no surprise there. I have been having a little trouble, every time I add in something whole wheat within an hour I feel drugged. So sleepy that I could fall asleep no matter what I am in the middle of doing.
I had a similar experience last time around on SBD, only the culprit was corn (discovered the rxn during a 'cheat') and the response was more aggravated. Since then I have learned to avoid corn, whether obvious or hidden (hfcs or corn solids). Going into a food-coma kinda takes the fun out of cheatin'...
Anyway, the ww products I ate were perfectly legal -- a pepperidge farm whole wheat english muffin one day and then some hodgson mills ww spaghetti another day. Both left me with the same sense of fatigue.
It reminds me of what this one doctor told me when I was checking out the food allergy/migraine possible connection. He said, "you are not truly allergic to these foods, but you are sensitive to so many foods it is a wonder you don't walk around feeling drugged all the time." I was discouraged and never went back to him -- the truth is I do go in and out of food induced brain fog a lot. Perhaps that is why i feel so good in phase one.
Advise me, ladies! Fruit adds back fine. I'm afraid to try rice and/or oats! I'm thinking I should avoid wheat.
I just need some feedback from anyone with thoughts on the matter.
Thanks!
Teresa

Thanks,Tia!
That is exactly what the doctor (in this case, husband...) ordered. I'm not real excited about it. I haven't cut out dairy yet. And I don't like soy products, so that probably means soy is the only thing I *can* have! I'm being pessimistic...
Is that how you found your dairy intolerance?
Teresa
Yes, that's how I sorted out mine sensitivities too....
and through the years, I've found I can handle somethings but not others..for example, I can eat a string cheese, but not drink milk or eat yogurt....but 2 string cheese at once make me icky... : )
I also discovered that it's not the lactose I'm insensitive too, (they can test for that) it's the protein in the milk..so using lactose free stuff doesn't help...
The only corn I ever have without problems is popcorn, I usually don't eat bread, but sometimes will have a cracker, I don't have any dairy except a cheese string and I avoid soy. It sounds horrible, but truly really leaves all the meat, fruit and veggies! : )
it's a bit of a pain to sort it out all, but keep a journal of how you feel NOT eating them..;and then what happens when you do eat a little bit..and remember, when you introduce them..just have a bit....
