Questions about Phase 2 weight loss

I read that the expected weight loss for Phase 2 is 1-2 lbs a week. But someone on here said that phase 2 was the weight loss phase? If you lose more in the first phase, why would the 2nd be called that? Did other people experience more weight loss in phase 2?

Everyone loses at a different rate. A loss of 1-2 pounds is safe and sustainable. Maybe this will help:

Yes, most people do lose more per week in phase 1. But phase 1 is NOT HEALTHY to do long term. Its a detox and jump start - but your body is not getting all the nutrients it needs. If you stay in phase 1 longer, the deprivation of nutrients will cause your body to go into starvation mode and you most like stall or even gain. This happens VERY often with very strict low-carb diets. People lose great at first, but the long term effect of no carbs causes their body to react negatively and then they stall. Also, keep in mind that most of we lose the first week or two of any diet is water weight. Even those members who have stayed in phase 1 longer saw their weight loss slow down after two weeks.

A normal, healthy rate of weight loss is 1-2lbs per week. So you DO lose in phase 2. I lost 8lbs in phase 1. I lost 59 lbs in phase 2. So, sure - even though it was at a rate of about 1.5lbs per week I lost WAY more in phase 2 than phase 1.

Its all about long term sustainability.

Same here, Kristi. When DH and I decided to start this WOE January, we knew that this was a choice we were making for the rest of our lives. We carefully planned it. We researched the best 'diets' out there and decided that SB was the one we could live with for a lifetime.

I've always been a heavy person. I was a size 18 when I married at 25yo. To be truthful, I don't ever remember being slim in my lifetime. So, if and when I get to a slimmer weight, I'll have much to celebrate, since I've been basically the same weight for about 11 years now.

Well, I said all that to say this...I know that it will take me at least a year to get down to a good weight for me. But however long it takes is fine with me. Cause I plan to be eating this way for as long as it takes...which really means forever. And I want to be here for a long, long time. I think this WOE will offer me a chance at a longer life and for me, the eating healthier and the exercising is a small price to pay for that.
